Hun you can't always judge water quality by the color. Now I know Canada has water issues as does the US, with acid rain and and illegal dumping. However I've seen much worse than that pic. That is why I asked you if you knew of a problem.

I'm a freshwater fisherman and outdoorsman I've fished all types of water. Muddy to glacier lakes where you can see 20 feet deep into the water. Lake water can change color in a day depending on the weather and vegetation in the lake.

one slip of whatever she is standing on that scene could turn ugly. Nothing wrong with teaching her to cook but atleast wait till she is tall enough where she doesnt have to stand on something. The reason why they call it an accident is because it is unexpected. What were you teaching her to cook?

Doggish I am huge on safety. I would NEVER place her or her sister in a position that their safety would be compromised. I am all too aware of how easy it is for incidents to occur. I am a saftey coordinator with my work so it is something I take seriously.
That day I think we were making a teriyaki noodle dish.

Ok I was only asking. But I think being from where you islands has gotten you spoiled. No where in the world is the water consistantly clearer. Trust me we don't want "that body" anywhere it might be uncomfortable.

I agree. My daughters take the same attitude towards cooking as you described. It's okay as long as they know to run their hands and/or bodies under cold water IMMEDIATELY if they get burnt. They've had a few small singes and have done exactly as I've told them. A few minutes later and they're raring to get back in the kitchen. All that's left is a mark that's gone by the next day.

As much as I hate seeing them get hurt, they're obviously willing to accept that risk. They also are more apt to finish their food because there's a certain pride involved. It also gives me time to wash the dishes.
