i have 4 teenagers and it is hard to raise them you tell them right from wrong but the parents don't know anything.why are teenagers so hardheaded and don't listen to there parents but when times get rough for them i need mom,so i say let them learn on there own cause it will drive someone crazy trying to knock sense into these peoples head.i call it tough love:itsawrap:

no i am a single parent the father is in prison

from what i've observed and experienced they are trying to carve out a niche for themselves. there is the parent trying to guide them, the friends they are trying to be cool with and the world that is saturating them with a buffet of ideas. that's a 4 way tug of war.

i use a mixture giving them leeway, tough love and punishment. constant communication. always making education the top priority.

discussing the things they watch/read/listen to see where their mind is.

knowing who their friends are. what kind of environment their friends come from.

always emphasizing thought over reckless action. that there are consequences if they willfully do things they know to be wrong and that i'll let them endure those consequences because they are old enough to know better.

i've never laid a hand on my girls. their mom will with a quickness though. i use other means of punishment. they don't earn an income but forever want the latest gears, mall trips etc. The reigns get tightened, chores take priority and restrictions on movement is enforced.

4 teens? That's tough. Good luck.

I do not have any children *yet* but from what I have observed of parents with good teens, they give them responsibilities and expectations; praise when they do right, and scolding when they do wrong. But the big thing I have seen parents with good kids do is TALK to them. Explain things out. Who knows? Parents can do everything right and still end up with criminals, just try your best but have some discipline
