Raiders WR Henry Ruggs III will be charged with DUI resulting in death after his involvement in a fatal car crash this morning in Las Vegas

You're talking about Dante Stallworth. He killed someone in Miami while driving drunk. Because it happened in Florida, he did no jail time and continued to play. Ruggs is in Nevada and he is going to jail.
Besides, the afore mentioned cases were sensationalized by the media, and like I learned over the years, sensationalized media can contribute to policy.

for reference sake..

These Swedes are some drankin cacs…however they don’t play no games with drinking and driving. Drunks will beat your ass if they hear you jangling car keys..u can even drink on the buses, trains, and as a passenger in a car. The party can continue all the way to the crib

it also costs about $2500 for a license. People value driving a little more. I wish America would adopt this cultural policy.
No

former cowboy DL Josh Brent had one of these too.
regarding ruggs, would'nt he have been reporting in for tuesday (today's) practice in a few hrs?
terrible judgement on his part.

Damn dude made a terrible decision now it may cost him his career, then you have to live with you took someone's life.. :smh:
I would pause on the assumption of guilt. Signs of impairment after a head on collision are different than a .BAC over the limit. When it’s all said and done if they didn’t get a blow or a blood test this is just a traffic accident.

He needs to find out who Leonard Littles lawyer was. Leonard little killed somebody drive in and got off
Oct. 19, 1998: Rams player Leonard Little kills woman in downtown crash on his 24th birthday

Post-Dispatch staff

On Oct. 19, 1998, St. Louis Rams football player Leonard Little crashed into a car in downtown St. Louis on his 24th birthday. The car's driver, Susan Gutweiler, 47, died of her injuries the next day. This was one of the Post-Dispatch's first stories on the crash, which led to Little pleading guilty of involuntary manslaughter.

The results of a blood test could determine whether Rams football player Leonard Little will be charged with manslaughter in connection with a fatal accident in downtown St. Louis late Monday.

Police said Tuesday that at least three witnesses told officers that Little's Lincoln Navigator - the largest sport utility vehicle on the market - went through a red light and crashed broadside into a Ford Thunderbird at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Market Street about 11 p.m. One of those witnesses was an off-duty police officer.

The driver of the car, Susan Gutweiler, 47, of the Oakville area of south St. Louis County, died of her injuries at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Louis University Hospital. Little suffered no noticeable injuries, police said.

Gutweiler is survived by her husband, William Gutweiler, and their son, Michael, 15. She was on her way to pick Michael up from a concert at the time of the accident, relatives said.

After the accident, Little made a brief statement to police and voluntarily took a blood test. The results could be available as early as today, but police generally do not make test results public.

Noted defense lawyer Scott Rosenblum went to a police facility early Tuesday to represent Little.

Sources who know Little said that shortly before the accident, he had been celebrating his 24th birthday at AJ's, a bar in the Adam's Mark Hotel popular with Rams players. AJ's holds a "Rock 'n' Jock with the Rams" party with Rams players serving as celebrity bartenders during ABC's Monday Night Football game; their tips go to a charity.

Little was seen drinking at the party Monday night, sources said, but he did not appear intoxicated. Police sources also said Little did not appear obviously drunk immediately after the accident.

The accident happened near the Adam's Mark and in front of the Gateway Tower Building, which houses KMOV-TV (Channel 4) and radio station KMOX. Little was going south on Memorial Drive and Gutweiler was heading west on Market Street.

The nearby intersection of Memorial and Chestnut is among the city's worst in terms of the number of accidents, but the Memorial-Market intersection is not on lists of accident-prone intersections.

Gutweiler's car was completely crumpled on the passenger side by the impact of the much heavier Navigator, a luxury vehicle. Police said they do not suspect Gutweiler's speed as a cause of the accident.

Blood test results could come today, but the police report, compiled by the department's specially trained Accident Reconstruction Team, won't be finished for perhaps a week. Then the report will be submitted to the St. Louis circuit attorney's office, which will decide whether or not to charge Little with a criminal offense, possibly manslaughter.

"We're investigating this accident like we do all fatal accidents," said Lt. Mike Siemers, commander of the traffic safety division.

"We're using the same standards and procedures. We're not going to vary in any way from the way we always conduct our investigations

If the blood test shows that Little was not legally drunk or under the influence of drugs, veteran police officers said they would doubt that he would be charged with manslaughter, a felony.

Gutweiler was a personnel assistant in the human resources department of the U.S. Defense Department's National Imagery and Mapping Agency at 3200 South Second Street. She had worked for NEMA for 12 years.

"Everybody liked her," said Jim Mohan, a spokesman for NEMA. "She was well-respected. She worked her way up here. She recently had gone back to college and obtained a bachelor's degree."

The accident stunned Gutweiler's neighbors.

"Oh my God," said next door neighbor Charlotte Schultz, 65. "She's such a very, very sweet lady. She's so conscientious about everything. A year and a half ago my husband died, and she couldn't have been nicer or more helpful."

Susan Gutweiler baked pies for Schultz, and Bill Gutweiler cut the woman's grass, Schultz said.

"She gave me her work (phone) number to call if I needed anything," Schultz added. "She's the kind of person I could call at midnight if I needed a quart of milk, and she'd get it."

Rams President John Shaw said at a news conference Tuesday that Little was extremely distraught by the accident. "It was very traumatic for him," Shaw said.

Rosenblum told the Post-Dispatch: "Leonard is a sensitive, compassionate young man. He's very upset and very distraught. He's concerned for the lady's family."

Rams Head Coach Dick Vermeil said the team is behind Little. "We're a very close-knit group and they want to support him in any way we can now that he needs some help."

Little is a rookie reserve linebacker who has seen action mostly on the special teams. He was a third-round draft choice this year after a standout college career at Tennessee, where he was known for his strong pass rushing ability.

On July 1, Little signed a three-year contract worth a total of $1,075,000. He reportedly used much of his $400,000 signing bonus to buy his mother a home near Knoxville.

According to the Rams media guide, Little was active in various community organizations while in college, serving on an AIDS Response Team, visiting children in the hospital and helping distribute canned goods to the poor during holidays.

An ESPN magazine last summer called Little the "meanest" man in the NFL draft.

"My mom went out and got a magazine the other day and showed me that," Little told the Post-Dispatch several months ago. "I am a nice guy, but on the field you have to change your personality because things are different."

wondered what happened to Galette. he hasn't played since. i remember when he finally did take the field for washington (he missed his first year with an ACL injury). in limited playing time he still had 4.5 sacks, still showed bursts of quickness. Then we never saw him again. was unaware of his comments. He's entitled to the way he feels - but NFL owners are some bitches. Basically blackballed him.

Only way you get charged for DUI is if you failed the sobriety test or refused it. If you are drunk, you shouldn't take the test. I wish I knew that the one and only time I ever got a DUI, defense lawyers say never take the test if you been drinking. Much money that DUI cost me, I've never drove drunk again. So I don't know the full story but it's not looking good for him at the moment.

I see Donte Stallworth got off light too. Maybe it depends on how many DUIs you've had in total. Hell I dunno.

Stallworth hit a dude on foot tryna catch the bus. I think he got off light because he broke the family of the deceased off real early in the process and he kinda had a case that the dude ran out in the street. He woulda hit him even if he was completely sober. He can never legally drive a car again though.

Damn..RIP to the person who got killed in the car accident!!....As for Henry Ruggs, It's over for your NFL career just like that!!... :smh:

And you KNOW he didn't save shit. He's probably contemplating a Gofundme cuz he doesn't have any liquid cash

But for real, most of us have done it. We might not know HOW MUCH over the limit we were or how close we were to the limit, but we've all done it

I'm good. I'm good.

Turn on cruise control and try to get home. Almost all of us are one really dumb decision from "Aww shit"

I got caught growing weed in my backyard. Fucked up thing was I wasnt doing shit with it. I was just trying to see if I could grow it.

Got hit with a felony and $30000 worth of charges I had to refinance my house to get the money for

It's fucked up, especially him having killed someone

He done in the league. Stupid asshole. What a hell of a year for the Raiders :smh: :smh: :smh: :smh:
