Oakland Raiders ownership are heading to Las Vegas Friday to meet with executives from the Las Vegas Sands Corporation about the prospect of developing a new stadium in Las Vegas.
The stadium would be built on 42 acres of land near Tropicana Avenue and Koval Lane that is currently owned by UNLV. UNLV President Len Jessup and Las Vegas Sands executives confirmed the meeting to 8 News NOW.
If the stadium is built, it could serve as home to the Raiders, pending National Football League approval. The Raiders are one of two NFL franchises that could relocate after the 2016-2017 season. The San Diego Chargers are also considering a move.
The NFL recently approved the Rams relocation from St. Louis to Los Angeles for the 2016-2017 season.
