Crowdfunding efforts underway following viral video of reported racial slurs at Rochester park

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – The woman accused of using racial slurs against a boy at a Rochester park, captured in a now viral video, appears to have identified herself publicly in a crowdfunding effort.
A user on a crowdfunding site identifying as “Shiloh Hendrix” has increased her fundraising goal to $1 million, accruing more than $400,000 since the video’s wide circulation as of 5:45 p.m. Friday.

She says the funds are to protect her family, saying in part, “I fear that we must relocate.”
Regarding the incident at the park, the user writes, “I recently had a kid steal from my 18-month-old son’s diaper bag at a park. I called the kid out for what he was.”
KTTC reported Thursday that Rochester Police are actively looking into the viral video showing a woman, holding a small child, making racist slurs in reference to another child at the playground who she claims had taken something that belonged to her child.
The person recording the video alludes to the child being targeted as having special needs.
The Rochester Branch of the NAACP has launched its own crowdfunding campaign with multiple goals, including legal support and social justice efforts in support of the child and family as well as anti-racism work in Rochester.

That fundraiser has earned more than $115,000 as of 5:45 p.m. Friday.
On its fundraising page, the NAACP acknowledged the woman in question’s fundraising effort writing, “Many of the comments from her supporters celebrate and justify her hate.”
The NAACP goes on to say, “Let’s turn outrage into impact. Stand with us. Stand for this child. Justice must be served.”
Rochester Police have solicited information from witnesses on its social media. There have been no official updates relayed publicly.
