Racist Blacks, Whites , and Hispanics on Tyra Banks

I know that I could get clowned for watching this show ( or posting on SOL), but this is one of the most interesting shows that she has done in a while.

The topic of today's show was racial stereotypes based on names.

The panelists in a roundtable discussion were asked to make comments and assumptions of what an unseen person is like based solely on their name.

These panelists were going off on tangents making some very strong negative comments about these names, which happen to belong to children.


The studio audience and panelists, along with the children's parents then watched the tape of the discussion and people made their comments.

Some of the comments that the panelists made were nothing short of ignorant, especially coming from the mouths of adults.

Needless to say, some mofos were ready to throw blows.

The panelists who were of various ethnicities had shown themselves to be very prejudiced not only toward others, but toward their own kind.

I know alot of folks, myself included sometimes tend to have their own ideas about what is a Black name,or White name, Hispanic, Middle-Eastern, Asian,etc.
But I don't understand how anyone can make assumptions about a person's character or values or behaviour based solely on their name.

Anyway, I don't remember this show of hers. I remember one she did about black people who won't date other black folks, as well as white people who don't date white. I think her exploring these issues is why she won an Emmy because she is able to amplify what so many people believe around this country.

Also we are all products of the homes we were raised in. So a lot of our beliefs are simply passed down. Not saying it's right, but if these people don't have positive experiences with the people they are putting down, they won't break out of their beliefs

well i don't condone it BUT .... what do you think is the purpose of ppl giving their children names that means stuff in different languages aka strong names or naming them after Kings and Queens, purposely after biblical characters or with some type of association with God (i.e. Chi in the Nigerian culture)?
