R.I.P Roy Ayers

R.I.P. Roy Ayers
This song made me a fan for life.
I remember riding around the city with this blasting loud as F%$K

He will be missed.
Roy's musical vibe (no pun intended) was so cool, funky and lush. Very unique. I can think of no better summer song than, "Everybody Loves the Sunshine". It's an audio music video unto itself.

I love "Searching" too. He hit a perfect connecting point between jazz, funk and R&B. Really ahead of his time. May the maestro Roy Ayers Rest in Peace.

Here's a favorite of mine:

The Grim Reaper must be planning one hell of a Summer Concert this year. (Stonestock?) The last two weeks have been Brutal. I saw Roy Ayers several times. The first time was at Blues Alley in the Fall of 2012. He was big on Obama and had "Obama" printed on his Outfit. After the show, he was selling his latest album. He spoke with my wife and me, and he autographed the CD. He also took a photo with her. He seemed to be a pretty nice guy. It's hard to believe they are both gone.

RIP

PS

As I left, I told him I loved his work in GTA4. I don't think he remembered it.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY did smooth and mellow like Roy Ayers. What a genius!!!

In the late 90s or early 2000s, BET (when it was still worth watching) had an episode of a program called Jazz Central that featured a live performance of Roy and his band. It included him doing a performance of his tune Sweet Tears that was one of greatest pieces of music I've ever heard. I recorded it, somehow lost it, and haven't found it since. If anybody might happen to have it, could you help a brother out?
