The R&B singer, born Brandon Smith, passed away on Thursday morning from respiratory failure at the age of 28. His older brother Denzil shared the sad news, revealing that Smyth had a long battle with a lung disease known as pulmonary fibrosis.
Denzil thanked fans for their support and asked for privacy while his family grieves. “It’s a tough time right now for me, for my family, and we’re just trying to do our best to cope in this situation,” Denzil said in a video, which he shared on Instagram. “He wanted me to make this video to let you guys know that he appreciates everything that you guys did for him, all the love and support.”

Smyth was best known for songs like “Might Cuff U,” “Ride Good,” “Twerkaholic,” and “Twerkaholic, Pt. 2,” which spawned a viral dance challenge.

“All those new TikToks and Instagram Reels made him really, really happy and he was able to have a smoother process,” added Denzil. “All the love and light that you guys were sending him and showing him on social media, he really felt it.”

Born in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. in 1994, B. Smyth was just a teenager when he started posting covers of popular songs from Rihanna and Miguel on YouTube. In 2012, he landed a deal with Motown Records where he released his debut EP The Florida Files. His most recent project, Unreleased…, arrived in August. Throughout his career, he collaborated with artists like Rick Ross, Young Thug, Future, and 2 Chainz, who appeared on his 2012 single “Leggo.”

Smyth’s peers including Snoop Dogg, Sammie, Mike WiLL Made-It, and Breland took to social media to mourn the tragic loss.

“This one HURTS,” Breland commented on The Shade Room. “Spent years working with this man and pushing each other to be great. Sleeping on couches and scheming about the future. Love to his family and his little boy.”

My issue with this is that if you have to ask this, you're either too old, too Young, or not black.

That said, the young man had a popular break out song around 2012/13 called Leggo which is where I found out about him.

Oh and he wasn't shot or killed, respiratory problems.

I expect more cancers and early deaths...for our future..R.i.P....yung brah
Yeah, because of of this food, and poor quality air that pollute where we live and we're these artist live as well.

Also, the drugs, pills and alcohol is bad which a lot of them like to drink and take those other substances which leads to an early grave.

People act like dude ain't known but I remembered seeing his video from 106th & Park back then on bet when they would showcase new artist back then which a lot of them became famous. While some didn't make it as big as others.

But some of these niggas wanna be ignorant with the dumb shit saying WHO, because when these other niggas post about rappers back then that I never heard of either, I just say R.I.P. and keep it moving.

Yeah Cat... I may be too old, (I was born in early 70's), I listen to Old school Hip hop, I ain't knockin none of these Younginz hustle, I just don't know them, If I come across something I like, I will ask who they are, that's about it. I know this Youngin died from a respiratory disease, but most of the Young artist that are posted on here that has passed away is from some sort of violence....
Now let me take my Old azz back in my family room and watch Matlock..... LOL

I feel like people don't be out there listening to enough music from other generations that they're too stuck in just listening to old school shit.

For example, I'm not familiar with music from hurricaneG but I ain't gonna say some dumb shit like WHO?...I just say r.i.p. and keep it moving even if I know the artist or not.

I can respect that, I listen to old school music but there's some new school quality music out there as well. To each their own.

But I'm from the 80s ..So, I was pretty much born in between old and new school music. Lol

But there's still a lot of old school music that I wasn't born at the time that I want to listen to and add to my collection.

I just feel people ain't gotta be doing this WHO? Especially when I posted info about the young brotha that died on the thread with pictures, videos and articles.

Also, I don't expect everybody to know this young man that died but he's still a brotha that passed which I felt was worthy to share on this black owned forum.

Facts, that COVID could be what took him out.

But sad nonetheless since he was gone way too soon at a young age.

I get it Cat... My 1st post was about how tragic it was to loose a Young Soul, it's a shame when we loose ANY of our Young Soldiers whether to violence or Natural causes...

Bruh, he's not popular enough for many on this board or the world to know who he was.

In many cases your statements might be correct, but not in this case.

Edit: I checked his YouTube and he had 253k subscribers.

He had a sing with Young Thug some years back so he did have a following.

I was very surprised to see that the song below had 17 million views so he was popular to some.

@sorcererforemost be listening to "Twerkoholic"! :roflmao:
