Definitely a great film. The most realistic (and real LOL) Disney princess ever and good themes throughout the film. The theater was packed with boys and girls and adults and there is something for everyone. No spoilers. :) Lots of jazz and big band and Anika Rose sings her BUTT off. I think that Disney really did a good job with the film and it speaks to the special bond between fathers and daughters too

Because it's Disney I have my reserves about the movie...but I'll give it a shot...I will have to screen this before my daughters see it though. I already got one running around talking about she the queen of her castle...

TRUST ME ON THIS ONE (imaginary internet personality that I am). Princess Tiana is not the typical Disney princess. for me she's better than the others, in a class of her own...

OH, and I heard that the Prince is white? Or mixed? LOL. WTfok?

oh. whoops. No the prince is not white or mixed either. He's not black though. It's a good movie. People really need to stop judging films before they see them and also stop being so sensitive about race in situations where it doesn't really matter... but ignoring race when it should count :dunno:

a lot of adults are upset at the whole thing about disney finally getting a black princess, but i am willing to bet everything that i have that the majority of those same adults cant even name a real life black king queen prince or princess without using google of some other research source.

This success couldn't happen to a more terrific actress (or more charming person). She's a wonderful representative for this breakthrough animated film (and looks amazing for 37).

true. and off the simple fact that I'm sure a lot of them have read Cinderella and Snow White to their kids or shown them the movie.

I'm willing to bet most, if not all Black people can't name a Black king queen or whomever either. I don't get your point.

It was a decent movie, lil sister enjoyed it. The Prince can probably be best described as Middle-Eastern/South European.

I don't see how this princess was better than any of the other ones, they're all pretty much the same.

I know I love it! I am so glad that my daughter is at an age where I can take her to see the movie and she comprehends what is going on. She calls herself a princess anyway-but she will still kick her brothers behind when she feels the need to.

O rly? Race had nothing to do with the syndication of the movie? I see.

I guess having a black Prince would have been asking for to much. Or too much of a culture shock for little white girls and their parents ... Hm. *grunts*

My ungrateful ass. LOL.

Oh, by the way, that's the sista from First Ladies Detective Agency. She's cute. I like her. :)

I bought my niece a clothing set from the Princess and The Frog for Christmas. If her father (or mom) doesn't take her before I get home for the holiday, I hope to take her...

Not only am I proud it's set in the Big Easy, I'm also happy she's African American...think of how many sitcoms (animated or not) don't show a African American young lady? I was thinking of this point the other day. Growing up, we had ROC (I hated the show, but you get my drift), Cosby Show, Family Matters, etc. which showed different types of African American families. Now we have, what, the Cleveland Show and repeats of That's So Raven?!?

Go ahead and say it - Black.

I guess a 'better' term here would be Cajun...the other one...

They have True Jackson also but it isnt promoted as heavy on Nickolodeon:smh:
