Question - Louisana Traffic Ticket

Yo Fam, I need some assistance if possible. Do any of you kats live in Louisiana? My issue is that I got a traffic ticket for Texting while Driving over a month ago. Which I found out is illegal in the state of Louisiana. I did some research and I found out that a first time offense is a $175 fine. So I mailed in the fine money, but they sent it back to me with a letter stating that the volation is a non-waiverable offense and a appearance in court is mandatory. I live in Maryland, why do I have to come to court in Lousiana for a traffic volation? Can any of you kats that live in LA enlighten me on this? Is there anything I can do, because there is no way I can come to LA for this bullshit. Thanks

i don't know,,, but how did they bust you tho?,,, cops have admitted that it's almost impossible to enforce this law,,, you should have said you were about to make a phone call, or were just checking the time or date on your phone

Yeah, it was night and I was driving from Monroe back to Shreveport on business. I was looking a text I recieved and I was about to reply back when I saw the state troopers lights whip on, then pull up behind me. He was beside me and I didnt even see him. I should have did what you suggested.

Funny thing is dude kept me there for over 30 minutes asking my all kinds of personal questions, wanted to search my rental car, etc.
