what do you eat?

does all the alternative stuff tast like the real thing like flax milk, almond milk, etc compared to regular milk?

what do you use the most to substitute meat?

we were here talking about making the switch after watching that what the health documentary

I tried to do the vegan thing but it's a battle. I eat mainly black beans quinoa spinach. I have a spiral machine to make zucchini look like pasta lol to fool my brain I guess. But I have a hard time not eating chicken and fish.

how long did you last on it? that's my concern. i know there's a lot of stuff to try and experiment with but i hear people say what you just said..

and you cant eat pasta with the vegan thing?

I didn't last that long. Maybe a month or 2. I'm allergic to gluten. I also wanted a healthier alternative to pasta. At first my concern was not getting enough protein. But that's really not a concern on plant based diets long as you eat the right things. That's why I dig the quinoa bec it's a complete protein. My problem honestly is I'm still in transition to getting back on track after some stuff that happened in my life and food is comfort for me such as meat or sweets.

I feel once I have myself back on track and I'm focused I can go longer without meat. For me the meat thing is bec of all the stuff they put in it but others will bring up good points about the purity of the water that's used as well as unless you grow your own shit the lables can say whatever but how do you really know it's not GMO or contains chemicals from other sources?

Try to ease your way in by going Pescetarian first.
You can use almond milk to cook or bake anything you need regular milk for.

If you are going to become a vegan do not eat any soy if possible. In the past most of the meat substitute stuff was made out of soy protein. And soy is probably worse than meat. Some products are replacing soy protein and wheat protein with pea protein. But some of the meat substitute stuff taste just like the real thing and some companies are devoted to preparing real food and not trying to trick you.
The best you will ever do is when you are able to eat only raw organic fruits and vegetables. I tried it and found out how addicted to processed food we are. Adding bee hive products to your diet will always help. You have bee pollen, bee propolis, and royal jelly which is the food of the Gods (us black people). If you know anything about blacks true history we only ate raw fruits and vegetables. And we are the ones that the bible refers to as God. Some where along the way one of our females killed a bird and ate it and blamed her guilt on sex and persuaded her mate to do the same.
Throughout history we went from eating meat to using different type of drugs to finally what had taken control of us start materializing in the form of other races and then finally whites.
It seems like it is by default that they are trying to poison all the vegetation they can right now as some of us are waking up.

Leafy greens, whole grains, beans, mushrooms.

Alternative "milks" have similar consistency but not taste.

Toomp was telling me how chicken breast stays in your intestines longer than beef does. On a side note, I make a killer black bean "meatloaf". I need to try to remember how I do it. I haven't made it in a minute.

we're going to the grocery store later to buy a little bit of various things and experiment making some dishes based off of what i see on the internet but most of that stuff is flash sometimes i'm more curious as to whats actually eaten because i know people aren't eating ratatouille everyday nor am i trying to prepare it.

The funny thing about folks being vegan is if they say the pesticides and herbicides that were used to grow they food they'd die. I used to make some stuff they spray on crops that couldn't be sold in the US. Yao'll go ahead.

Real organic farms are being forced to sell out to companies like Monsanto. In the old days when some people planted they would put up gourds first with a hole in them. Swallows would eat the seeds out and build communities in the gourds. They would sweep the garden daily and they eat 3 or 4 times their own weight in bugs and insects every day.
We are worried about the soil as well as how to grow the crops. Some people sponge their crops. The rain forest is being cut down and killing a lot of real organic food.

Personally I don't get caught up in a lot of the things that a lot of aspiring vegans or long term vegans do. I find what ever veggies, lentils, fruit, or what have you and eat it as is. I don't try to take certain stuff and make it look like another dish ie: black bean burgers or anything else. I eat it as is and I eat lots of raw stuff

the trick is not to stop eating meat cold, make it a gradual process..

start with just eating less but better quality meat, grass fed only...

then start by eating it with fresh salads and brown rice, the trick to good brown rice is letting it soak in water, before you cook it, and addding seasoning to it, like a lil ginger, himalayan pink salt, a lil lemon pepper whatever flavors you like explore herbs and spices...

when you realize how good you can eat without eating meat the process would be much easier..

I eat a lot of shit like avacados, chick peas and black beans...

I make my own tuna using pumpkin or sunflower seeds..

man that shit is like eating a bowl of viagra pills...

once you are really serious and go in hard.. no homo...

the meatless possibilities are endless...

but again, make it a gradual process.. free range meats, then go to just eating lamb, then just fish....

and btw, Im not a vegan I still eat fish......only wild caught salmon, chilean sea bass, mackerel and sardines..

if Im on vacation I do the snappers red and blue and few others..

I was about to post the same thing. The process was slow and gradual for me. I don't even have the taste for meat anymore. Several weeks ago I was at a party and bit into what I thought was a portobello slider. Instead it was beef. I instantly spit it out because I hated the taste.

I still eat eggs, cheese, and fish , but I plan on removing them from my diet in the near future. On days that I don't eat eggs for breakfast I find that a smoothie, nuts, and fruit fills me up. If Im hungry at lunch I just get a salad or eat more fruit.

yea I remember ten years ago when I tried to have my last cheese burger...

once I got by the cheese smell and really smelled through the seasoning...I took a bite and had to chuck it up...

I went cold turkey and ate just veggies and drank veggie juice but I lost tooo much weight.. and everybody thought I had aids or was on crack..

even my ex at the time, was driving then looked over at me and asked if I was dying...lol..

I started craving wild caught salmon for some reason, and I got back my normal weight and then some..

now I look like a gotdam strong safety for the new york giants..

eventually I will be full vegan tho..

the key is to drink a big glass of water before you decide what you want to eat..

and youd be surprise had how much that can curb your hunger, many times people are just dehydrated and think its food their body is craving and not just water..

I knew a lot of that stuff, but I after watching that doc., I'm focusing more on a vegan diet.

Brother's been a vegetarian for just under 25 years. He thought about going vegan ... but still consumes some eggs & dairy, etc.

He mostly focuses on homemade wraps, chili, soup, casseroles, etc. Big on chickpeas, lentils, beans, rice, spinach, and so on.

He's a pretty good cook ... used to mess around with some dishes growing up (built up his confidence that way) ... and worked as a sous-chef at a restaurant from about 2000 - 2007.

there was nothing propaganda about them stabbing the leg of that cow and pus came shooting out of it.
That part was propaganda. Not sure why people think animals don't get sick or diseases. What you saw was a sick animal. Wouldn't it been easier just to show a diseased animal being slaughtered and ship to stores? They didn't show that because it never happened.

Butchers and meat producers don't want sick animals because it would hurt their money. It would serve meat producers no good to serve diseased animals as the quality and taste of the meat would be very subpar.

Don't cook much because of my living situation. When I was out it's usually the 3 item combo from loving hut, a tofu burrito without cheese or sour cream, a veggie burger and fries at my favorite spot, a bowl from eatsa, or the veggie tibs from this Ethiopian spot. There's an Irish pub that makes a great impossible Burger too.

I've been told that aside from the impossible Burger and the Yves chick'n nuggets most veggie meat doesn't taste anything like the real thing. After a while your taste buds adjust though. Same as if you moved to Japan and could only way local dishes.

I tried to do the vegan thing but it's a battle. I eat mainly black beans quinoa spinach. I have a spiral machine to make zucchini look like pasta lol to fool my brain I guess. But I have a hard time not eating chicken and fish.

Because you lack discipline.
