I hear ya DM, but I also hear people (on and of these boards) all the time saying the major media outlets, INCLUDING CNN, didn't say jack about this or that (and a lot of times its about something Bush did or didn't do) -- and the conclusion is that CNN, like a lot of so-called mainstream media, is protecting or not exposing Bush, hence, its conservative. The Dark Mind said:CNN leans left and has always leaned left.
It was founded by what could arguably be the biggest leftist ever, Ted Turner.
It is also known that most journalist and reporters are liberal.

the fact you have to ask what objective journalism is speaks volumes about the state of journalism in this countryQueEx said:`
How does one make an "objective" rating?
That is, what criteria do we use so that, based on a common set of standards, we
are all talking about the same thing ???
(Not trying to dissuade responses; it just occurs to me that there ought to be some
kind of standard on which a judgment or decision can be based. Otherwise, what
may be liberal to some might be considered conservative to others, you know, so
that everybody is talking about apples and not some talking about oranges).

Prime example: following 9-11, when CNN's/government version of how the towers fell didn't agree with those who believe there is some conspiracy involved or that the buildings fell from some kind of conduct by Bush and his minions (corporate and otherwise), they cried CNN is protecting the status quo conservatives/government.

And that's a bad thing??????The Dark Mind said:CNN leans left and has always leaned left.

I tend to look at it as Objective being conclusions based on the facts; and Subjective being conclusions drawn on what you think or what you think someone else is thinking or means.thoughtone said:. . . Reporting dry facts should be objective, but not reporting facts could be misconstrued as subjective.
I don't think CNN has a real bias. Anderson Cooper could be considered "liberal" but Glenn Beck is a blatant conservative. CNN tries to offer both sides of the argument even if the conservative side has no credible voice (remember them Swift Boat assholes). I think that's a mistake and MSNBC has it right, now they lean left.VegasGuy said:Does CNN in your opinion lean more to the right, to the left or doesn't have a policial bias at all?
