No disrespect to the game, but Im not a basketball fan.
I don't "know" basketball like I "know" football and baseball,
so I can't tell when the talking heads are full of shit or not..
I have a question about Dirk on the Mavericks.
1) Does his play REALLY qualify him to be MVP of the league or is he another
case of "Great White Hype"?
2)What is the criteria for NBA MVP?
I remember last year during the finals, (I DO watch finals and championships of ANY sport, I dont care what it is.) they acted like this guy was the second coming of Jesus or some shit.
On ESPN radio today, caller after caller (white boys) said that just because his team lost, that doesn't mean he is not the MVP.
While at the same time saying not only was Dirk not the best player on the floor, he wasnt even the best player on his TEAM.
After a while it started to sound like spin. They even said some guy on the Warriors was "playing Dirk like he was back at Rucker Park", and thats the reason Dirk had a bad game.
I know Kobe for instance had a tremendous year (you cant frequent this board and NOT know it). How does he NOT get MVP? He had a rash of 50 point games if I'm not mistaken. LeBron? A.I?, Carmello? (I only know the "stars"). I'm sure there are more.
With (heard Charles Barkley quote this figure) 7-10 players in the NBA being non white, and 9-10 players "on the floor" being non white, how
does a white guy win MVP?
Last year I heard it was between Dirk and Steve Nash.
What gives?
Somebody lace ya boy up...
