Question about coop plan

I tried to ask ths in the general forum, but with all the shouting I couldn't get an answer:

I've been looking into this Co-op plan, and I have one question. I am a proponent for Universal healthcare. But let me ask this real quick:

If you set up a non-profit organization of healthcare professionals (not insurance executives) with the initial investment of taxpayer money- and then you tighten restrictions on the industry on pre-existing conditions and costs... and you set up a government Oversight committee to oversee this co-op organization- isn't that just another flavor of government-run healthcare?

I'm sincerely asking.

Well, well, well. Look who the wind blew in (or at least, look who peeped his head in the door). Long time no hear, on this side.

Yeah, popped in here to get a question answered. The general board is talking to the issue but not talking through the issue. So I came in here to see if anyone can give me an answer.

In regards to your question, from what little thats out there the government will fund and run the co-op(s) for 5 yrs then turn it over to others. Who these others are I haven't a clue.

For these 5 yrs. the government will make the decisions on what services are covered. What happens after someone else takes over is unknown to me also.

Now that the public option is dead or at best in deep trouble this is looking like the back up plan.

We will see how it shakes out.

This program is like putting a wig, a skirt that beyonce would wear, some high heels, a push up bra, and some makeup on a crack head bitch.

All that shit sounds good, but you still stuck with a bitch who will still your TV if you leave.

Different clothes on the same bitch.

OK, I got the 5 year deal. That is scary. Personally, I don't think that the public option will be dropped yet. I think that the Obama Administration is checking temperatures and trying to get some liberal outrage that will match the conservative outrage... even if it's against the administration.

See you can be angry at Obama during recess, but when you reconvene Congress, you will be ready to do battle against the Blue Dawgs.

But I was looking at the bill and I can see that with a couple of tweaks, it's a government-run plan. Plus, if you create a governmental body that is federal instead of a state body- which is a big part of the tick-tock, that is Government run. Now if they can make that body permanent- I'm more inclined to go with it than not.

What other hiccups are in the plan?
