You have various level of conservative commentators. People like Coulter come out, make outrageous comments and help distract people from the real issues going on in this country. That said, I believe people like Coulter are horrible and shouldn't be as prominent as they are. The bigger picture to keep your eyes on is how hate speech, racism and absolutely ignorant comments are becoming more regular on talk and radio shows. Even though people like you and me know bullshit when we hear it, imagine the effect on younger generations who are raised exclusively on this type of bullshit? Unlike you and me, the younger generation can't think back to a time when the media was somewhat respectable (the mainstream media has always been crap to a degree but not as horrible as today). The hate speech of today is the only thing some of the younger people of today know - it's all they've ever seen and heard. And to me, that's a scary thought.
