Well, we've all been clamoring for Sony to adjust the ridiculous price of their Playstation 3, and they've finally gone ahead changed it for us. Oh, just a couple of notes before you get excited: the price change is only effective in Canada, and it's a $50 increase. Yeah, you Canucks were getting off easy only having to pay $649 of your funny money for a PS3. The new price of $699 should suit you much better.

Oh, and it also appears that they've removed all 20GB models from the Canadian market as well. Is there a more anti-consumer company than Sony out there? Seriously, it's like they're trying to agitate their customers. Next they'll announce that in order to buy a PS3 you need to submit to a solid kick to the balls before leaving the store

The official story: "Although the Suggested Retail Price (SRP) of the PlayStation 3 in Canada has not changed, some Canadian retailers have chosen to increase their retail price as a result of the weaker Canadian Dollar. This increase is solely at the discretion of the retailer as Sony Computer Entertainment Canada has not issued a price increase."--An SCEC representative.

Let me, someone connected also, co-sign this news. I told mofos that Sony was gonna start losin developers. EA is not my favorite business group, but anybody involved with gaming knows that you cannot survive without EA publishing games on your console. A snub from EA is certain death for the PS3...or anyone else they snub. They put out more games than any other game company worldwide. Microsoft and EA eventually joinin forces would be the end game...but it'll never happen.

Shit is true. No Madden on Dreamcast is a big reason it vanished when PS2 came out. PS2 honestly wasnt much better than Dreamcast. Millions of people bought a PS2 only to play Madden and then later got other games.

True. Sadly, this all happened before people started to realize NFL 2K and NBA 2K were the better games.
 
thats how you run the business buddy, market that shit right... think about it... u disscountinue the 20gb so the consumer will end up with one option...the 60gb....and since its the only one, itll be almost a scarce item so-to speak, but it isnt, scarce in terms of variety where u have a 20gb and 60gb... so therefore u increase the price to break even since u wont ship the 20gb and save money on that.... these mofos at sony ehh

OK. So Sony is screwing the Canadian Retailers then, rather than the consumer directly?

They weren't allowing a reasonable profit margin to retailers so they "let" them increase the price.

Your report is Oct BEFORE RELEASE, the msn news is JAN 18th 2007. Never heard of a company changing its mind or just plain dropping games. Why havent EA come out and rebut the newcast as it was on a channel that does affect money and stocks?

who gives two shits and a cupcake about EA...its not like they have much I play anyway..I still to this day play ESPN NFL 2K5..madden sucks and also the ONLY other game i care about in their stable is Battlefield...I stopped playing Fifa last year in favor of Pro Evolution and never looked back, EA is on of the laziest developers out there, also it never said anything about them dropping sony...you Boxers kill me...I just for the sake can't see why someone who doesn't even have the system bitch about it so much..ya'll getting like that fool Pikestreet :smh:
