prodigy (mobb deep) goes to jail for 3 1/2 years on gun charge

Mobb Deep rapper Prodigy pleaded guilty to a weapons charge in Manhattan Supreme Court yesterday (October 9).

P spoke up in the middle of his trial proceedings to admit that the unlicensed .22-caliber pistol police found in his Chevy Suburban last October, was in fact his, according to the Daily News.

This, after the G-Unit member originally told prosecutors he had no idea the unlicensed, fully loaded gun was in a console compartment between the driver's seat, where he sat, and the front passenger seat, where record producer The Alchemist was sitting.

This is P's third gun rap and as reported by The New York Post, he was originally looking at 15 years. The 32-year-old Queens-bred lyricist struck a deal that will instead send him to the slammer for 3 1/2 years.
