Prisoners in the US are part of a hidden workforce linked to hundreds of popular food brands

Y'all not understanding my point. I never said I believe this. I know this all about corporate greed. As I said before, corps showed you what will happen when profits are temporarily threatened i.e post pandemic "inflation".
Fair enough. People are such simps for "things" that they don't care about companies ripping people off. Madden still sells millions of copies and I haven't seen a positive review for that game in years.

I bet if they banned prison labor there will be less incentive to incarcerate ninjas. Ninjas get convicted at higher rates and longer for the same crimes as white people. Unless they get market wages it is slave labor, this undermines unions, the poor, and young. You know private prisons are some of the most profitable companies in america.
BINGO!

:smh: thats what prison is.... what you expect???? thats what happens when you break the law doing shit that puts you in a situation which requires you to do some time & or NEVER get out! You made yourself a slave!!!! You have no rights! You deserve to have no rights ESPECIALLY if you murdered, raped, molested children & women! THOSE inmates should be subject to the most inhumane treatment everyday they are there!

I find it hard to feel bad for them.
When they was in the street they didnt care about hurting people. They didnt care about how the people they hurt had to get themselves back together..... fuck"em!

Its also an excellent sours of cheap labor IF you are in a business that could benifit from the cheap labor. If a sack of shit inmate wanted a job... they can work for .50 per hour or stay in their pod! The company saves money with wages, insurance, short staffing.... the inmates banished from society get to earn SOMETHING to be able to do a lil something. Life is what you make it. They chose the life that put themselves there! Their actions in the free world refleted their desire to be a modern day slave. I cant feel sorry for that dumb ass niggaaah!

Everyone in jail isn't some violent psychopath.

Don’t disagree, but if everyone got a living wage, then corporations are going to find ways to increase costs for consumers. We saw first hand what corporations were willing to do to make up for lost profits coming our of the pandemic.

The average American makes $56,000 a year. That's the highest in the world!

The problem isn't a lack of money. Is things like gutting public transit so people have to drive a car to get to a damn food bank or throwing people in five figure medical debt over a broken ankle

Slightly disagree. $56,000 is great money in some parts of the country and damn near poverty wages in other parts. Everything you mentioned is not a problem for those that have good jobs, which means good money and medical insurance. It also means they can afford to drive to and from work.

But why should you have to?

If you want to drive then fine, but circumstances should never force someone to own an automobile for basic life tasks.

Likewise, if you want cutting edge treatment from the world's best surgeons 5 or 6 figures makes sense, but not for a cast and an x-ray.

Even if you have a good job $30,000 is a lot of money. Especially when losing that good job can end with that car getting repossessed the moment you get sick or injured.

Corporations are a big part of the problem, but most of it is systemic.

Not sure where you live where 30,000 is good money, but that ain't the case here in the DMV.

States that accepted Obamacare, helps with the insurance for everybody option. A lot of the problem is redstates that refuse it.

Major cites tend to have better options for car-less people. Again, I bet the biggest transportation issues occur in rural red states.

Even if you made twice the national average $30,000 would still be more than a quarter of your pre-tax income.

Then you factor in gas, insurance, parking, maintenance, repairs, depreciation, interest and tolls you're paying $12,000 a year.

By comparison I live in San Francisco and pay $81 a month for a bus pass and about $60 a month for the train. Roughly 15%

These options should be available everywhere, especially in states where the minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. Instead we force people to commute to these jobs in transportation they can't afford and blame them for being poor. I believe this is the biggest reason it's so hard for Americans to escape poverty.

In countries like Spain and Italy people make about a third of what they do here. They may not be able to buy as much stuff as we can, but the average person has no problem getting food, clothing, shelter, transportation, medical care and higher education.

Why can't we get it right?

If the average wage is $60000 and there are studies that state parents should expect to spend $300K on education for their children, what are you really saying?

If the average wage is $60K and the rent is $15K annually, what are you saying?

If your wealth is your health and you have no wealth, how do you maintain your health?

Where I’m from, you spend the equivalent of $50 for cable tv and cell phone per month. Do you know how much Comcast charges for a similar package? If I donate blood for the entire month, I can afford my cable bill.

Not everybody has kids. No one needs cable. People move all the the time to places where it's cheaper to live and better work opportunities.
