Prince Gently Weeps- greatest solo ever?

hmmm...so u read my thread and made the same one with a worse quality video the NEXT day.....

only on BGOL

Boo fuckin hoo.

Actually I got the Hall of Fame DVD in the mail after reading about it in Rolling Stone, enjoyed the piece, found it on youtube, came to BGOL and searched Prince While My Guitar Gently Weeps, found nothing posted, and made a post.

It was a coincidence, but not my fault you don't include any decent keywords in your stupid post.

But congrats on crying about it. You're awesome. And by awesome I mean a retard.

It was alright, ive heard much better solo's, Prince kinda goes off the beat and tone, and almost sounds like he's playing another song.

To me he's playing the "weeping guitar" mentioned in the lyrics and not playing the song per-say.

The real deal. Harrison and Clapton perform the song live at the classic Concert for Bangladesh (1971).

Clapton later revealed in his autobiography that he had no memory of playing. He wasn't in very good shape at the time and barely made it to the concert. No rehearsal for him at all. A GREAT concert film.

Maybe you should listen to this before you start handing out awards...

Were we listening to the same thing? He didn't even know the song and came out and slapped that bitch like she took his last peanut butta sammich.

Well, thats exactly why I'm saying I didn't like it, he didn't blend at all with the other musicians, and because of this all I heard was clutter. The other video my dude posted shows a much better effort linking with the notes of the melody.

For him to have made what he wanted to do work, everyone else would have have had to stopped playing.

Did you understand what this thread was about?
Where was the guitar solo?
I listened to the whole rass video an no solo did I hear!
Try again!!!

Roga Roga is playing a guitar solo through out the song. In limited music, they stop everything a let someone wonder off into wonder land so that they can have a guitar solo. Here, in organised music, we have guitar solos structured into the song. Welcome to the classroom Charlie..

I don't know who Roga Roga is, but from what I heard some dude was playing a repeated riff and intermittently varying the riff, not really what we would call a guitar solo.
I'm not doubting the mans playing skills, I'm just saying that was not a solo....

Not only is it a solo, but his official position in the orchestra is "solo guitarist".

Prince is always on point with his guitar solos!
This is one of my Favorite guitar solos in a song

He's great, but he's great due to legends like Jimmy Hendrix's who was unconscious with his stringing no matter what influence he was under.

George Harrison and Eric Clapton reunited again in 1987 at the Prince's Trust Concert (along with Ringo, Phil Collins, Elton John and others).

Clapton had a more appropriate guitar than he had at the The Concert for Bangladesh and was a bit more into performing the solo that he had first created some 20 years earlier.

Not only that but the definition of what he is supposedly doing is typically called an accompaniment.

That's not even Prince's best live guitar solo.
Ernie I does not compare
Prince is not a guitar virtusio, Steve Vai, SRV, etc
He is a better bass player, piano player then guitar player

Whoever put Ernie isley up in this piece with the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, and Prince needs his ears cleaned!

I put Ernie Isley in here to say that what Prince did on that solo was nothing more than what Ernie did on all the Isley guys cuts.

Please refer to the clip Joy In Repetition posted by the homey Skipqool...That muthafucca totally obliterated the track with that solo. Yo, I had to watch it like 5 times to comprehend the full extent of his demeanor while playing that shit! E Isley is tight, don not get me wrong, but C'mon SON!!!
