detroit knows you win with pitching, defense and timely hitting. can only have one or two mashers who k all the time. detroit has those arms all they need are contact hitters
Math, from 2000 - 05', you could have batted '98 Mark McGwire after Bonds and teams still wouldn't pitch to him. Bonds had an OPS of 1.422 and 120 intentional bases on balls, both hightest in history, the batter providing 'protection' was JT Snow who had a slash line of .327/429/529 and OPS 958, which is elite and far superior than the protection that Miggy received from Fielder last season. If 'protection' is not myth why did Bonds set an all time record for IBB, with elite protection behind him??
