Steve Harvey had a perfectly good explanation for meeting with Donald Trump.
We caught up with the comedian Friday on his way to Trump Tower in NYC where he tells us how the meeting with the President-elect came about and why he accepted.
Check out the vid ... looks like Steve will team up with Ben Carson, Donald's pick to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Later, Donald and Steve met with reporters in the lobby where they exchanged

Steve Harvey had a perfectly good explanation for meeting with Donald Trump.

I'm trying to keep an open mind. I'm trying. I actually listen to Steve Harvey's morning show. Around election time, Steve was adamant that Trump was a racist, wasn't fit to lead our country, and has a strong history of not performing any philanthropy to help fellow Americans. His choice was for Hillary and he had no problem making that known. He's said it a number of times, Trump isn't the guy.
Fast forward: Steve says that both transition teams, Obama's and Trump's called him in for a meeting. "When the President-elect calls, you come." After the meeting, it seems Steve has a huge change of heart. Steve said they talked about golf and laughed a lot. Steve said he's a nice person when he's not under attack. And now, they'll be working with Dr. Ben Carson (who said he didn't even want to run the agency because he has NO EXPERIENCE) on issues with Housing and Urban Development.
Steve said one thing that caught my ear. "He's aware of my mentoring program..."
I wish I could ask Steve why all of a sudden is there a change of heart. I wish I could ask him about this conditional support and how he expects this to bode with his large urban following. Trump looks and speaks like a fool, but #45 isn't an idiot by a long shot. I swear this game is about money, power, and influence. This is the ultimate reality show of the haves and the have nots.
