Only a true dumbass would have that amount of money in a regular savings account getting 3% interest, when he could be getting 9% or 12% with a better account.![]()

On the REAL TIP ... what are some of the rates like in ya'lls various areas? And what are some of the better forms of savings/investments people can recommend for all of us in our pursuit of the REAL INVESTMENTS (property / real estate)? Especially for all of us who are looking to one day become 1st-time homeowners ------------>
The rates here really vary (west coast) ...
- Ya'll have 401k plans. In Canada we've got RRSPs (Registered Retirement Savings Plans). The market has suffered the past year, but I did well over a year ago sitting at 13% one go-'round.
- G.I.C's (General Interest Compound) - Used to deal with these in the early-2000s
- Term Deposits (years ago they often averaged 3-year term rates of 3.5 / 5 / 7%, whereas more recently they've suffered and often sit at 2.5 / 3.25 / 5% with average yields of only 3.583%)
- Bonds (Back in the 90s it was cool as a youngin' to buy some of these ... back then the rates were more solid, and just sit on them for 5 - 10 years or more). My grandmother's told me stories about the 80s and early-90s when 2 and 3-year term rates averaged 12 - 19%. It's unbelievable really for all of us 18 - 35yo cats at present.
- Savings (The rates vary DRASTICALLY here. Some places offer as little as 0.01 - 0.03%. Other are only 0.3%
. Some are 3 - 3.25%
. Whereas some of the better institutions are offering slightly improved 4.25 - 4.75% rates
for 'INTEREST PLUS SAVINGS ACCOUNT' & GENERAL SAVINGS / NO FEES / NO ACCOUNT LIMIT / UNLIMITED TRANSACTIONS ... which is ok. * It's really hard to believe that so many hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people who are sitting STRONG on alot of money keep shit locked into wack-ass providers with dismal returns.
I'm closing out a 3-year term deposit which comes due on November 18th, 2007. Gonna invest it into the 4.25% spot and wait for something better.
Being patient with the RRSP ... it fluctuates continuously and you're never sure just how strong the market truly is. * It's hard to get a statement one month after 2 months and see you've lost $100, then a month later earned $200, then lost $230, then gained back $35.I was asking fam' what to do and my mom laughed and said ... "Don't even worry about those statements. Glance at them, and then file them away. Things are way too up and down. The game's unstable."
what you want to ask for is high interest yield account.
I buy gold bars and have them in safety deposit boxes. If the bank crashes, gold still keeps it's price.
I THOUGHT THIS THREAD WOULD BE DEAD BY NOW
