I don't think Ortiz loss was unfair at ALL but I wonder if the public outcry would have been the same if Roy Jones Jr. first career loss was as highly publicized???

Roy Jones vs Montell Griffin I

Roy Jones vs Montell Griffin I & II

In 1997 Jones had his first professional loss, a disqualification against Montell Griffin. Griffin was trained by the legendary Eddie Futch, who had taught him how to take advantage of Jones technical mistakes and lack of basic boxing fundamentals. Griffin jumped out to an early lead on Jones but by round 9 Jones was ahead on the scorecards by a point and had Griffin on the canvas early in round nine. But as Griffin took a knee on the canvas to avoid further punishment, Jones hit him twice. Subsequently, Jones was disqualified and lost his title. Jones sought an immediate rematch and regained the world light heavyweight title easily, knocking Griffin down within the first 2 minutes 31 seconds of the fight, then ending the fight by knocking Griffin out just over two minutes in with a leaping left hand shot.

Ortiz loss wasn't unfair which is why the boxing public is not even entertaining it. Roy's loss was debatable in alot of circles, Ortiz loss is debated by casual fans who don't know boxing.

Ortiz was robbed?

^this.

My POINT EXACTLY.

People who don't know boxing think the Ortiz loss was unfair.

My point is the general public has all of sudden because boxing experts and have killed Mayweather (we all know what that is REALLY about) but I don't remember people being this passionate about RJJ loss.

Understandably his fights were never promoted like Mayweather, I wondered IF IT WAS would people see what happened to him as egregious.

Especially all of the people commenting have little or no knowledge of the TRUE rules of boxing.

People who dont know boxing? WTF? Name one other time that shit has happened in boxing and it was cool? Last I remember, a dude did it on ESPN on Friday night fights and ended up arrested. In this case, dude went in for the hug and boom!

If i remeber correctly, the RJJ loss happened on regular HBO.....not on PPV where people spent 60/70 dollars to see. That may also play a part.

that video and the ortiz punch are not even comparable

Jones' loss was some fluke shit where he thought Griffin was still ducking down. It was bullshit but the ref made the right call.
Ortiz' loss shouldn't even be considered.

Jones basically scratched on the 8 ball, but their really is no comparison here. It's football season anyway, people have moved on. No one thinks Ortiz was robbed at all.

LOL man the fight was over at this point. You seriously should retire from boxing threads as a whole. This clearly shows your complete lack of boxing knowledge and utter stupidity

Change your name to mistybleu...

was that really the best your could do ?

I would submit, that the ONLY folks who think the Ortiz loss was unfair are the Mayweather haters.

Once you touch gloves, you know what time it is.
If they hadn't touched gloves, THEN all these Mayweather cheated, crying folks would have something to stand on.
