Fuck.. I am old. Took a class in college just on that book. What is funny is that it was one of those course that helped me explain my atheistic beliefs. I still have a copy of it and Aristotle's work in my library. It's about time to get the eBook.
That was because you were taught to separate the physical from the spiritual. This is the erroneous root belief of Ancient Greek and subsequently all of the Western thought.
No. I had been an atheist since I was a child.
Also... What the fuck is spiritual? Seriously . It's a word that means nothing. Just magical thinking.
Platos cave is the under lining thesis of the Matrix movie. Most people are not really ready to find out that there reality is manufactured.
If you really want to go deep into this Google the Mandela Effect. But before you do that ask yourself how you would feel if you had solid proof that reality as we know it was an illusion. Could you mentally handle that? Because your sniffing around the rabbit hole. Watch thisHow so?
I understand the material I posted.
But to possibly gain a better/more clear mental picture your words may add on.
I don't use the word 'spiritual'.
It means something spooky to most people, or the unseen, unheard. I say energy; the mind(not the brain).

And what is energy? I mean seriously. It is natural for humans to be magical thinkers. That is why the world is the way it is, and part of the allegory has to do with magical thinking.
So, when people say energy o am assuming you don't mean it in a scientific way. Our minds are physical. There is no such thing as a mind, body disconnection even though people believe such things. Then that is where the magical thinking comes into place. It seems that we has a species like to give ourselves too much credit, but then it is easy to be species centric when there is no competition and that our knowledge is very limited yet in the
Ast 100 or so years have learned more about the world that we live in than the entirety of human existence.
So, I ask you. What do you mean? Usually people mean the same mumbo jumbo magic. Here is the thing. When you see the world through a magical lens then it is easy to be fooled or give up your power. For instance, people speak about racism and they give it this overarching omnipresent power that it doesn't deserve. There is nothing magical about these things. They are an expression of human frailty that has a destructive effect in us all.
Your brain is physical, not your mind.
I don't know anything about so called magic.
You said what is energy? Open a physics book.
Check out the law of conservation of energy!
Check out the law of conservative of matter.

Not saying that @Give Me 3ft. is one of them, but I do find that most people who go on about spirituality tend to have magical thinking deep at the center of it. It's just better hidden by slick definitions and wordplay. Basically, a lot of them still believe in god and an afterlife.
And like you, I was a non-believer before I met other non-believers or heard them talk. Religion, afterlife, and the concept of needing a creator never made much sense to me. Magical thinking has done way more harm to mankind than anything else. It's one major reason for your comment about the last 100 years vs all of human existence.
I admit I am a magical thinker because i am human, but when you know that humans have a tendency to be magicla thinkers then you can't set up safeguards to deter yourself from going down that road.
Of course, Give Me 3ft is religious at his core. That is why I asked for his definition of energy. The funny thing is that if you have a modicum of intelligence then you can use scientific terminology to rationalize woo.
One thing I hate is when I see too many black people say that the only reason I (black atheist) think as I do is because I was taught (white education) that the spiritual and physical worlds are blah blah blah. It is in an insult us all whether someone is a theist or non-theist. Reason is not the property of Euros or any group. Basically, they are insinuating that we can not use logic, and have to be taught it by some other group. It is one of many ways that racism has affected us to give us a sense of inferiority.
studied this when i was a philosophy major in college. it's basically light metaphysics.
