I was fussing with some fools about this earlier...

Richard Sherman only has to play 1 side of the field while PP is shadowing every teams #1 receiver on every offensive play (megatron, jimmy grahm, julio, etc). Sherman has Earl *fucking* Thomas (all pro FS) over the top on damn near every play which allows him to gamble because he knows that Earl Thomas is money in both run and pass plays and nothing will get past him. Team will shift their formations to ensure their #1 isnt on Sherman side of the field.

that just means he is limited...its easier to play one side and thats why his numbers are better

It's not that easy to play on one side. You have to know who to cover, and when to stop covering one receiver in lieu of another receiver who enters your zone. Moreover, you have to have the skill, intelligence, instincts, etc., to make all of those quick decisions during the course of 1 play. Lastly, Seattle has many different coverage schemes. Seattle plays a lot of cover 1, which requires Sherman to play man coverage. Also, Seattle utilizes mixed zone and man coverage, most often during blitzes.
