I've been to Ohio so many times (Cleveland Surrounding areas) including the area where this Walmart sits.

People are just not making enough to sustain these shopping strips. Much of it is just over saturation. You see the same box stores every 5 to 10 miles.

Most of these are black areas and just like the shopping strips drying up so too is the housing in these areas.

Ohio voted red, #MAGA!

Not just Ohio. You can go to any suburb across the country and find dozens of abandoned strip malls per city. Whatever the contracts are with the businesses that lease the space need to be examined to determine better exit strategies for tje leftover buildings.
no doubt we hav a few dead ass malls here too in tha burb's of detroit...

Well to be fair the Walmart in the video should have never been built on A garbage dump

same thing happen here north of tha d in pontiac ..the y built a new postal megaplex on top of a land field and the workers are getting ill
and dropping dead to the methane coming up thur the foundation...but they havent closed it...

yea all the malls died the ones that do exist is just full of chinks and Arabs selling fake diamonds gold and designer clothes, there might be one thing you would go for like a LensCrafters or a dentist maybe.

i was there when they were building that bish.

was there when it opened.

was there when it lost the Walmart about 3 months later.

the giant eagle is still there along with a full strip mall right in front of it.

i heard it closed due to faulty construction.

they opened a new one in Steelyard Commons almost immediately after.

vid said 20 minutes so i wasn't trying to watch... but it looked like that walmart strip in garfield hts ohio. piece of shit ass city, like white version of east cleveland. i think it was either the plaza was built on top of garbage or it was built on a fault line or something. they just moved everything into the steel yard...

i was just in richmond mall for the first time in 5 years last week. fucking dead. 2 restaurants in the food court. maybe 7-8 stores in the whole thing i think all the anchors gone.. cheap chinese urban clothing, cheap jewelry, and a few tennis shoe stores

Wow you guys made this post more depressing but it needs to come out

Is East Cleveland still a little shady?

East Cleveland is the product of at least three crooked mayors in a row....

How do you sell out the residents on one street to an unauthorized garbage dump?.... The company has no permits in the disposal or recycling of asbestos, concrete and other materials yet you can look over a fence / from a porch and clearly see thats whats over there....

How do you have a city where they have to decide whether to pay the gas/ heating bill payroll for some departments?

That city is broke....

Richmond breaks my heart, that was the mall to go to 99-02...we only went to Beachwood if we wanted something Richmond didn't have or to mess with the white girls......

Now you only have Beachwood place, well maybe go to the movie theater at Richmond.... That's about it

East Cleveland is like mini-Cleveland....I rarely go to EC because of the environment there. The only, time I go there for the most part is to kick it with my homie and I haven't been there for 4 years due to it being eirae over that time span.....It is, do bad in East Cleveland, the city has major sewage problems due to the lack of leadership in that city.

At,one point,East Cleveland were suppose to merge into Cleveland but the city of Cleveland didn't want East Cleveland's problems, especially when Cleveland is trying to get away from the manufacturing business and want attract more businesses to the city.

Its so bad,not even, the city of Cleveland dont want to deal with East Cleveland's problems. Like I,said the two cities were suppose to merge but Cleveland was like fuck that...

that wasn't the reason. ec was being divided up by cleveland heights for the forest hills area and cleveland was to take the rest but the powers that be in EC weren't having that because they didn't want to give up what little power they had.

i haven't been to most areas of northeast ohio in so long.... i really don't fuck with anything west of the lake county border now. only place i might go shopping at in northeast ohio is beachwood mall, and that's once in a blue moon. if it's not in lake county i'm usually in columbus shopping and doing stuff.

My bad...you're right but eventually,Cleveland and Cleveland Heights are gonna have to take over East Cleveland because the leadership in EC is beyond horrible....You cant play hardball when your city us beyond fucked up...:smh::smh::smh:

The first one was a vibrant shopping center when it was just Target. Then, Walmart built a store right across the street, which they do often and push the target out of business.

That Target went out of business.

Then, a couple years later the Walmart closed as they are reorganize/restructured. That Target had been there for over 20 years, but Walmart came in push it out and then shuttered its doors.

This is why I hate Walmart, or at least one of the reasons I hate Walmart

There is a show on the Vice Channel called “Abandoned”.

They have done stories on Ohio and it’s surplus of abandoned structures.

built it on top of a landfill........that was a genius idea......
dumb muthafuckas....

You act like there aren't greedy, low down and outright stupid mfkrs all across the US.....

The fact that that Giant Eagle grocery store is still going strong with no foundational or employee health issues is interesting though.... That store is what 1500 ft or so feet from the old Wal-Mart

It's a lot easier to build the infrastructure for a mall or business than it is to actually run a business. Retail space is overbuilt all over the nation.
