I will say this and I want the board to look at this objectively (tall order, I know.

)
Now, I believe a handful of things are in play here. After watching this video, I believe Pebbles and I believe TLC, and I'll tell you why.
Pebbles, I believe everyone would agree, was a gifted an attractive female. She passed the paper bag contest, had a kid at 18, was on welfare, and was still able to have a career as an entertainer.
According to her story, when she was signed to MCA and had met L.A. and Face, she saw something big was about happen,
and what did she do: she went and "asked" for another/better deal to accommodate her situation on her path to success.
Now, let's just stop the story right there...!
Did TLC have the same opportunity to step up and say they did not like their current deal? Although it mid-stream, I believe they did and Pebbles granted them their wish.
Now, let me ask the board is it possible, just maybe, because Pebbles was a woman and was light skinned and had a position of "power" so to speak, in a male dominated industry.
I don't know, but did Whitney get a worse deal with Clive? Did Biggie get a worse deal with Puffy? Did the Supremes get a worse deal with Barry?
It appears that a standard contract by males was sent out to these promising artists as well, and the backlash has been there, but not quite the same.
Yeah, a standard deal in music don't mean sh!t to the artist and yeah, it is shady...shadier than the dope game in music!
However, I believe a handful of dynamics play into the vitrol that many feel because a) they have never developed an artist in the industry b) they don't know what it takes to develop an artist in the industry, and c)they allow emotions to outweigh logic when they have never had the money to invest in what these people invest in to get a return on their money.
Yeah, she probably could have "given" them more, but she didn't steal any more money from them any "label" is stealing from their artists right now.
Just food for thought...hell, who knows, I could be delusional!
