I gotta replace my pc ( i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.40 GHz, 16.0 GB memory) & I've been holding out for a while. when its time to get focused on getting work done it never wants to comply. The macbook pro overheats w/ processor-intensive tasks ( 2020 version 14Ghz quad-core Intel i5 w 8gb memory)
I really DO NOT want a pc..... I know the mac lovers/creatives here could point me in the right direction .

im trying to get the most bang for my buck right now & need to make something happen asap. thanks in advance for the help.

im making more vids & working on my websites more I use canva , capcut (desk top version), & ms office products a lot & I have several tabs open in my Chrome browser..... I can use firefox but like Chrome more. my pc makes me not want to try to get anything done. I cant multi task on it like I want/ need too. The freezing is killing me. :smh: :crymeariver:
I gotta do this on a super tight budget.

Since you said you're doing videos, DO NOT get the machine with 8GB RAM. You will frustrate yourself. Standard today is 16GB. Depending on how intensive you're rendering is, you might want 32GB and place more emphasis on your GPU. I would go no less than 4GB VRAM for your GPU. The more the better.

He also said he doesn't want a PC but wants to do this on a budget........make it make sense, haha

Im kinda burnt out on pc's i dnt like apple phones but i like their computers & im looking @ purchasing a used product not new hence my budget. I know pc might be easier .... im just kinda burnt out on them. I like the look & feel of apps on a mac more than a pc.

Appreciate that... the draw back for the intel based mac mini is most people add an external video card. That cost a few $$$.

I know i need 32 to 64 gigs of memory for whstever i do.

Brand new, looks like you're on Budget for a MacBook Air.
There are plenty of decent gaming laptops available though.

I was just thinking a gaming laptop. I bought one earlier this year for about $1700. It’s an Acer. It’s the perfect type of overkill on resources I need.

I mostly convert uncompressed Blu-ray using Handbrake, so I can to that in 20 minutes now.

The only draw back is the sound sucks for music and it’s bulky, but none of that is important to me.

8GB with the M2 is not nearly as limiting as it is on a PC. If you run out of ram, the OS will use some of the storage. Since the storage is also fast this won't be a huge problem. There are youtube videos demonstrating that you'd have to do some crazy and extreme stuff for the mac mini's 8gb of ram to be a problem.

If there are specific programs you need, make sure they support macOS first. Otherwise you might consider the intel mac. You'll easily be able to run windows on it and upgrade it as well, though it will be slower.

You can always connect some external speakers to it to overcome the shitty audio. Gaming laptops continue to get better and more affordable so I would just go with one of those. Plus, the GPUs are strong enough to do rendering and editing work.

The guy explained a lot of shit to me & Q2
Not trying to be funny, but it may come out that way. Your budget does not fit your reality. Either spend more money or stop dreaming. Apple has some products that will work for you, but your a few hundred short with that budget.

Are you familiar with Raspberry Pi? Raspberry Pi Starter Kit.
Basically what you said. I gotta bump up to @ least $1500 for a refurbished studio & im gonna apply for their business account. The macmini is a better look w/ the m2 pro chip & 32 gigs of ram.

My laptop was made in June 2019, I got it in April 2021, it was damn near $2800 new, I paid $1100 from Microcenter......

shit is still nice, It's dated but can still play most new games on medium settings with 1080P 30-60fps...

I'm definitely checking there first when I'm back on the scene for a laptop.

this is what my main issue is.... the majority of programs I like to use are windows based & dont or wont run well on the new mac's I can get an intel based macmini with 64gigs of ram. it wil lbe slower but faster than what I have now. Ive just out grown it's use.

I bought the M1 Mac Mini (16gb version) a few years ago and mostly do video work on it and that thing is a beast. Handles all my footage like a champ, never slows down and exports fast as fuck. Can't imagine how fast the M2 and M2 Pro chips are. My M1 Mac is fire.

it seems like you would need more than 16 gigs tho... I know the chip makes a huge difference but in terms of longevity/ future proofing... 32 gigs would be best.. yes :dunno:

also... the ticket for a used mini w the m2 chip cost what a base studio cost damn near.

Negative.

My windows pc I used prior had 32gbs. When I exported a 45 minute clip/video on Premiere from my PC, it took damn near three or four hours.

When I got my Mac Mini, the same sequence in Premiere exported in under five minutes.

A 16gb M1 Mac Mini machine will smoke a 32gb and even 64gb Windows machine.
