Parents should be held legally responsible for when their "kids" commit crimes!!!!

The pattern I notice with people (BGOL in particular) is that when kids or young adults etc etc commit henious crimes everybody is always saying that they should get ever evil thing that they deserve yada yada yada.... okay that is always a natural reaction.

But what about the parents? Parents should recieve just about the same crimminal sentence for the crimes their kids commit. They the parents may not have "pulled the trigger", but parents vastly contribute to the type of person he or she becomes in life. Who u are as a person whether good or bad, stems from the type of upbringing u had as a child. The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree always holds true. I have neverrrrrrrrr in my life heard of a serial rapist, murderer, child molester etc etc that was raised in a healthy family environment, have any of u????.

Those kids who got shot in newark nj, one of the parents came on national tv & said he does not blame the kids/perps. who took his son's life. At the moment he blames only the parents of the accused for not raising their kids into adulthood right.

What gets me is that when a crime is committed(like the gang rape of the mother & her son I believe in florida by a bunch of teens) the parents of the accused will come on tv & say that how "junior" is such an angel & a good person & they just don't know how he or she could have done such terrible things that they are being accused of.............So after that I'm always like WTF are u fuckin kidding me   U raised u'r kid for about 18 yrs but yet u don't know if he's got the devil inside him or not

People always say that places like newark, new orleans etc are bad places & they need to change for the better. But in actuality it was never the place/neighbourhood that was bad, it's the people who live in them & their the ones who need to do the changing.

Re: Parents should be held legally responsible for when their "kids" commit crimes!!!

Most Of The Times The Parents Are No Where To Be Found, Usually In Some Cases The Parents Are On Drugs Or The Kids Live In A Disfunctional Family.

So In They Minds The Way Out Is To Rob, Kill Etc. Cause They Have No Guidance To Do Anything Else

It's Sad Though, But It's The World We Live In.

Re: Parents should be held legally responsible for when their "kids" commit crimes!!!

This is quite trivial because if you are to convict the parents of these misfits then where is the justice against society? I say that in place of humanity because every action is conducted by humans is a learned behavior. There is nothing animalistic about us. The only thing we know how to do is EAT and PROCREATE. That's it. Even gay people have a grasp of this concept at a young age, but it's when they are able to make sound decisions that they decide the path they choose to lead.

This is what I want you to do. Reflect on every impulse you had as child that did not require an adult to help bring it to light. Things that come to mind are hunger, sleeplessness, pain, etc. You formulated these thoughts because of your brain right? How foolish do you think it would be to convict everyone that your child comes in contact with for corrupting the gem you've place in their head? If you don't want your kids doing stupid shit, don't have them. Either that or keep them confined to the property. Someones child is gonna fuck up everything you taught them.

Re: Parents should be held legally responsible for when their "kids" commit crimes!!!

Sometime no matter how hard a parent tries with a child the child will sometimes follow their own path good, bad or evil. That's just a sad part of human nature..... Yes, they are some parents that contribue to the wrong doings of their children by being negligent and bad to their children whilst they were growing up ..... BUT ...... What about the many other parents who do their best with good intentions and the children end up failing them and the system. Are you going to procecute and lock them up too??!!

Re: Parents should be held legally responsible for when their "kids" commit crimes!!!

I've never understood how people can try to hold someone responsible for someone else's criminal actions. Every home & parental situation is different. All of my very close childhood friends grew up with families that taught their kids right from wrong but that didn't stop most of them from doing what they wanted to do. I also have seen kids who's parents I don't know but feel sorry for. These are the kids who don't listen to or respect anyone. Are we going to charge mom or grandma with murder / robbery because they cant stop a kid twice their size from screwing up. Are we going to go after the judges, probation officers teachers and counselors that failed to stop them before also?

Interesting take on things....

I disagree however....

I'm not justifying or even trying to rationalize the behavior but sometimes the children may suffer from an undiagnosed mental illness that no type of good parenting can alter...

I work with adolescents and most of their parents have no clue what their children are doing, for good reasons and not good reasons...Teens today are exposed to so many negative things. Look at all the violence that they see in the news let alone the streets...

Penalizing the parents wont solve shit unfortunately, for the parents are clueless to what their children do alot of times(Not all the time however)....I always watch my son and check on him at school and he continues to do stupid shit...His rationale is that he didnt think he would get caught....

Shit blame it on rap music...Or Don Imus, nah just blame it on Bush, yeah
that always work...

I feel where you are coming from Bruh, just try and do your part and show these young people a bright light in the midst of all this darkness

Re: Parents should be held legally responsible for when their "kids" commit crimes!!!

Thats a bunch of crap!!!... I have six boys. Thank God they turned out good. Some kids are evil from the start. Then, you have to factor in the average parent is competing with, their child's peers, the bullshit on T.V. and a society that caters to violence. Even when I was growing up females were attracted to criminal types, which in turn made teens want to imitate these hoodlums. Granted there are parents out there that shouldn't be allowed to breed. If a parent tried their best to raise their kids right, teach them moral values, etc...then they shouldn't be punished if their child commits a crime. There are too many factors involved to say it's entirely the parents fault. You also have to factor in the fact that everyone can't afford to live in luxury. Alot of these kids grow up in the hood, they may or may not have proper upbringing, but in certain neighborhoods you have to adapt to your environment. I grew up in S.E. Washington D.C. my cousins and I would walk past a dead body and think nothing of it. When I left home for school every morning, I said to myself this is going to be the day I die. Luckily I was one of the smart ones...I joined the Airforce to get away from that environment and to acquire money to finish school. I never stole anything from anybody, I never killed anybody but, the influence and opportunity was there. My mom raised my sisters and I alone. My dad didn't live with us but he was there mentally. He kept in touch and I made it a point to see him. Everyone's situation is different, satistics are a bunch of bullsh*t. If we are going to punish parents for their childs behavior then we need not stop there...punish the schools, punish the teachers, punish their associates, punish their neighbors, punish the government, punish the church, punish the pastor, punish law enforcement, punish anyone who sat their and watch it happen. Why? Basically you're saying the parents didn't do their jobs and neither did these entities. Out of curiosity. Do you have kids? Case closed....Gone

I suppose you've never heard of the phrase "Personal Responsibility"

Of course he hasn't. Far too easy to place the blame on other people. Black people are the most undivided race on the planet earth,
