50 Cent admits he 'has never owned, and does not now own' any bitcoin

Reports last month that rapper 50 Cent had forgotten about $7 million or so in bitcoin he owned have been given the lie by the man himself, who declares in court documents that he “has never owned, and does not now own, a bitcoin account or any bitcoin,” nor did any of his companies.

The court documents were first obtained by The Blast, but I tracked them down as well. Curtis James Jackson III (50 Cent’s legal name) filed the “Declaration on bitcoins” last week, well after the reports had circulated that he had rediscovered the trove of cryptocurrency. He said at the time: “I’m a keep it real I forgot I did that shit. Lol.”

Turns out, however, he never touched bitcoin himself. As he states in the declaration:

All online transactions involving my brand were handled by an independently owned and operated third part, Central Nervous LLC.. the limited bitcoin transactions that occurred online were processed and converted to U.S. Dollars contemporaneously, based upon the then-existing exchange rate…

He provided a few screenshots of his BitPay account showing a couple hundred transactions, most of which were for $5.50 or $8.90. It doesn’t look like bitcoin purchases contributed much to the 200,000 copies of Animal Ambition that eventually sold.

It isn’t anywhere near the 700 bitcoins reports suggested he’d raked in; considering a bitcoin was worth $657 at the time, the total haul is by my rough estimation probably closer to 6 or 7 of them, a few thousand dollars’ worth.

Why, then, did he not deny the reports at the time, if he knew they were not true? Later in the same document he explains a well-understood rule of show business:

As a general matter, so long as a press story is not irreparably damaging to my image or brand, I usually do not feel the need to publicly deny the reporting. This is particularly true when I feel the press report in question is favorable to my image or brand, even if the report is based on a misunderstanding of the facts or contains outright falsehoods.

When I first became aware of the press reports on this matter, I made social media posts stating that “I forgot I did that” because I had in fact forgotten I was one of the first recording artists to accept bitcoin for online transactions. I did not publicly deny the reports that I held bitcoins because the press coverage was favorable and suggested that I had made millions of dollars as a result of my good business decision to accept bitcoin payments.

All quite true. It’s hard to say it was not a good decision (being as it was good publicity at the time as well), although in retrospect it might have been wiser to hold onto the coins instead of cashing them in. But with bankruptcy looming, the promise of later riches (which he might simply have to surrender) likely held little temptation for the rapper.

50 Cent Says He’s Never Owned a Bit O’ Bitcoin, Crypto Fortune Was a Lie
https://theblast.com/50-cent-bitcoin-bankruptcy-false/

50 Cent just joined the rest of the world obsessively scratching their heads over cryptocurrency, because his alleged Bitcoin fortune just dwindled from an unrealistic amount of millions of dollars, to a very realistic amount of ZERO, after he admitted that he has never once in his life owned a bitcoin.

Fiddy filed documents in his bankruptcy case, obtained by The Blast, admitting that “Recent media reports have falsely stated” that he failed to disclose alleged interests in bitcoin to his Bankruptcy Court, but in reality he has “never owned, and does not own, a bitcoin account or any bitcoins, and to the best of his knowledge, none of his companies had a bitcoin account from 2014 to the present.”

The rapper is referring to reports from last month claiming he had earned millions in bitcoin after allowing his 2014 album, “Animal Ambition,” to accept the cryptocurrency as payment. Reports suggested he banked 700 bitcoins, which was valued to be worth between $7 million and $8 million during the crypto boom a few weeks ago.

According to the documents, 50 says “Animal Ambition” did accept bitcoin payments, but it was converted to U.S. dollars by a third party before it ever reached him or his companies. He stresses that he has never owned a bitcoin.

He says after questions from the U.S. Trustee and creditors related to his bankruptcy, he instructed his advisors to investigate the situation and ensure that he never collected a bitcoin.

As for why everyone, including 50, went along with the fake news story? He says, “As a general matter, so long as a press story is not irreparably damaging to my image or brand, I usually do not feel the need to publicly deny the reporting.” He adds, “This is particular true when I feel the press report in question is favorable to my image or brand, even if the report is based on a misunderstanding of the facts or contains outright falsehoods.”

Moral of the story: If you’re going to lie on 50 Cent, he won’t call BS if it’s really nice. Also … someone better check and make sure he was really shot nine times.

The only way I know to accumulate and hold wealth wealth is long term stock investing ,and people who do not know how to do that ,no matter how many licks they hit ,will not retain long time wealth . Get an online broker account folks , like( e trade/ ameritrade)and review the educational meterial they offer , learn what leveraged ETF’s , shorts , long ,short and intermediate term treasuries are , know what a trailing stop is , then you can make and hold money rather the market is up or down , this KNOWLEDGE of the language OF MONEY WILL B THE KEY TO OUR FREEDOM . Most whites that I talk to are fluent or at least understand the language of money ,most blacks I talk to have no knowledge at all and cannot speak to you About money in any intelligent way.

sheeeet I know folks that lost a pretty penny fuckn with the stock market...

the folks I know that made good money, got into real estate...

not sayin you cant make money on the market, just sayin you could lose just as much as you make...

Y'ALL KNOW HE LYING TO THE COURTS - NOT about the bitcoin.

50 playing too much.

This is the game of bankruptcy. Just like the dealer I knew way back with three cars, two homes up East, a few timeshares and a gas station. None of that shit was in his name and he rented a tiny ass apartment in Atlanta. He was nowhere near broke but on paper, he wasn't worth much.

Maybe he's lying about lying about the coins? :dunno:

Thats exactly what came to my mind. 50 could be lying because he did declare bankruptcy recently, correct? Of course he wouldn't want to reveal how much his assets are worth. Not saying that this is in fact the case, but it very well could be. The problem with 50 is that instead of jus making moves, he's an attention whore that loves to brag. Look, I stay saying that I aint got shit (although its true, I don't), but if I had shit, I damn well wouldnt announce and publicize it to the wolves, be them legal or illegal.

That's what I was thinking. Either way this era of putting ones business on social media is asinine to say the least. I saw the folly in it more than a decade ago when police where constantly rolling up and locking fools up for flossing firearms on myspace knowing damn well one of the conditions of their parole or probation was being prohibited from owning or handling firearms ever again in life. Only for those moron to be caught posing with gats shirtless so everyone of their gang tattoos could confirm their identity. Hell the biggest gun bust in NYC was a few years ago when some moron in Brooklyn was flexing and plexing over 200 hammers. Nowadays the IRS is watching as well. I guess he didn't listen to the life of OJ. Oh well Jigga man warned y'all rap nigga about that dumb shit.

You dudes kill me making excuses for when these niggas lie...especially when it comes to Curtis. So your logic is that he's telling the truth about making millions of dollars but he's lying to the Bankruptcy Court about having that same money. So he's gonna tell the truth to you niggas but he's going to lie and face possible jail time?

These rappers stay lying. Fif got a history of it. I won't even call it lying. I call it just trolling fans lol. He probably didn't think anyone even really believed that shit.

Now this right here is a SMART MAN. ETFs, mutual funds, index and stocks. If you can throw 500k into a mixture of ETFs and MF before you reach 40 (keyword, if you can), you'll be good. I'm trying hard every day to put in 1k every month into my Vanguard. By the time im 40, i want to at least have 200k invested in my Vanguard alone. Who knows what that 200k will be by then.

Nigga I would lie too. Just because he posted his bitpay account doesn't mean he doesn't have bitcoins. He probably just showed that to give them a bone and not have the IRS on his ass too.

Lmao and nigga be lying about Bitcoin on here? Why?

People find crypto attractive because if they're successful they'll see quicker results. Investing in stocks is a slower process. I agree with you tho.
I feel that investing in solid companies like Disney, Netflix, and Amazon etc., by slowly adding money, taking profits and re-investing is the way to go.
Or better yet, buy index funds and/or etfs and keep adding to those funds on a regular basis.
The majority of us, and I include myself, should leave individual stocks and risky investments alone. Buy index funds and/or etfs through companies like Vanguard, Fidelity, T. Rowe Price etc.
