Michael meets Keyshawn, and all is well
Michael Irvin sat down this week with Keyshawn Johnson for ESPN's Sunday Countdown, and all appears well in the wacky world of wide receivers.
The two have gone back and forth the last couple of weeks as if they were auditioning for lead roles in The Bickersons.
Johnson felt slighted when Irvin said Johnson was no better than a No. 2 receiver. Johnson countered by saying anyone who played alongside Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith could be a playmaker. And off they went.
"Key's OK," Irvin said in the wake of the interview. "He told me there are so many things he does for a team that don't get noticed, like blocking downfield.
"And he is an excellent blocker.
"But I told him I blocked downfield, too. Key said, 'Mike please, I've seen the films.'
"Then I told him I played with the all-time leading rusher in NFL history," Irvin said. "Somebody must have been blocking for him.
"Key said, 'Mike, I've seen the films.' "
Admitted Irvin, "OK, maybe I didn't block downfield."
