Michael meets Keyshawn, and all is well
Michael Irvin sat down this week with Keyshawn Johnson for ESPN's Sunday Countdown, and all appears well in the wacky world of wide receivers.

The two have gone back and forth the last couple of weeks as if they were auditioning for lead roles in The Bickersons. Johnson felt slighted when Irvin said Johnson was no better than a No. 2 receiver. Johnson countered by saying anyone who played alongside Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith could be a playmaker. And off they went.

"Key's OK," Irvin said in the wake of the interview. "He told me there are so many things he does for a team that don't get noticed, like blocking downfield.

"And he is an excellent blocker.

"But I told him I blocked downfield, too. Key said, 'Mike please, I've seen the films.'

"Then I told him I played with the all-time leading rusher in NFL history," Irvin said. "Somebody must have been blocking for him.

"Key said, 'Mike, I've seen the films.' "

Admitted Irvin, "OK, maybe I didn't block downfield."
 
Cutting Keyshawn was a dummy move. Another team will pick him up within a week, or two. Hopefully, Seattle will pick him up since they did a dummy move of their own by trading Darryl Jackson to their divison rivial, i.e., San Fransico.
 
I don't know what kind of money he was due but Keyshawn should be able to find another team if he's willing to take slot receiver money. I lot of good vets are still unsigned. Eric moulds is still unsigned.

that's what makes that interview classic, and I think Jarrett must've knew with the look he had on his face. Keyshawn was all amped up and excited, meanwhile Jarrett had this blank look like mugfucker you not even gonna be here.

Maybe Keyshawn should think about retiring, I have a feeling with the job he did this past weekend, he will definitely get substantial offers as an analyst.
 
Keyshawn is in talks with the Saints. Could be one as early as tomorrow or as late as Friday. Payton was his O coordinator in Dallas. They got ties and I have heard he is hella pissed, I mean 3 million makes it a little better, but he is pissed.

HE DID GET THE MONEY HE WAS DUE BACK IN APRIL I THINK......$3 MILLION BIG ONES FROM CAROLINA......NOW WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT, PAY HIM AND HAVE HIM THINK HE WILL BE A PANTHER IN 2007 & THEN CUT HIM IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE DRAFT. THEY MUST HAVE MONEY LIKE THAT.

Keyshawn didn't get any money. I cut and pasted this article from my ESPN account.

The Panthers didn't lose cash when they released wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson. Some media outlets have the team giving him a $3 million roster bonus, but in reality, Johnson had a $1 million roster bonus set for the fall. He won't get that money. He won't get a $1 million base salary. Johnson was a victim of a youth movement. The Panthers drafted Dwayne Jarrett out of USC, and Johnson wanted to mentor him into the NFL. The thought last week was if the Panthers drafted a wide receiver, Johnson would be gone.
It's going to be a tough market for Johnson to find a new home. He's 34. Most of the receiving jobs are taken, and most teams aren't looking for a 34-year-old possession receiver. One possibility could be New Orleans, but the Saints recently signed David Patten as their veteran receiver. Odds are the Saints won't sign him. Johnson's next job could be at the NFL minimum of $820,000, and Johnson might not be interested in waiting for a receiver to get injured in minicamp or training camp just to get the minimum.
 
I never cared that much for Keyshawn...although I will say he was a tough guy over the middle with great hands.

My favorite Keyshawn moment...back when he was with Tampa,they had him miked up against the Colts.Early in the game,Marvin Harrison caught a few short ones over the middle and a slant or two for small gains.
On the sidelines you can hear Keyshawn yapping and laughing...saying is this how this guy,Harrison gets all his stats?...in general mocking him.
By the fourth quarter,after Harrison has caught several bombs,a couple of TDs...there was only silence from Keyshawn.Maybe his mike broke...

I can see that...especially after hearing him on the draft. Any receover they'd talk about that had speed, he'd immediately diss them just because Keyshawn himself doesn't have any speed, but have it be a big & physical receiver he'd go right into his "oh he'll be good, he plays like me...speed means nothing" routine.​
 
I'm a Cowboys' fan and I'd love to see his punk ass back in uniform here opposite T.O. and for cheap money too! Hell to da yeah!

they just gave him a 3 million signing bonus april 1st..so he still got that loot
plus i read somewhere that he bought a lot of land in south central la that is now worth more than what he has earned playing ball
