Oscars Debate: Should WE (& Chris Rock) boycott & REACTIONS to his monologue

The cool thing about CR is he will say something about it and it will not only be funny but true. From what I have read the Academy knows its on some BS. They claim to be making changes soon but I doubt it. So many people on the board have made so many good points. I'm not sure if a boycott will work or not.

I'm not so sure him saying something about it is a good thing. It sort of neutralizes the tension. That lets them off the hook IMO. I hope he doesn't say shit about "it."

But ultimately a boycott isn't going to do shit. I've been boycotting movies, namely slave movies as a consumer for years. Never seen Precious, The Help, etc.

Just you as a consumer boycott, because these celebrities and actors will wilt to the lure of money. In a second. Boycott the bullshit and you'll feel more content.

Hollywood's been racist and always will be IMO.

Its sad to see black people begging to be in the matrix..:smh: There is nothing to boycott because we shouldn't be putting this much importance on it in the first place. And HOW would we as blacks actually boycott the awards?? don't watch a tv show?? thats silly. Don't attend?? theres been 88 of these and its survived pretty well without black participation. Don't submit black movies for consideration?? thats a joke right??

No matter how you slice it its crying over some bullshit:smh::smh:

I already did a list of winners and noms and how much the award effected their careers (not much if at all)....

Quite fuckin frankly the reality is oscar noms and wins HAVEN'T translated to a career bump for MOST of the black people who've won.

Will Smith has been nommed 2 or 3 times but he was puttin in work long before that so we cn assume his winning one will be CAREER STAYED LEVEL..

If being nommed or winning that trophy DOESN'T significantly improve your career and based on the history it DOES NOT..then what the fuck good is it??

That alone means we shouldn't be putting so much emphasis on it... The oscars should mean as much to us as a BET award means to anyone else.

In fact we all KNOW that if will got snubbed for a BET, Essence, NAACP Image award him, Jada nor anyone else wouldn't give a shit.

No way, they chose him to host it and i'm sure he's being well paid for his time. Why should he boycott it only for them to pick some white dude?
I'm for any black man getting paid,as for attending it for FREE just to mingle with the likes of Clooney,Pitt and whoever we/they call famous people well that's another matter entirely.

Funny I thought it already came on lol. I usually find out a week later unless someone does something and it hits my Facebook or something. Tuh.

Kefta, kaya and their twitter kids will tune in . Internet Activism live from your couch is serious business. Internet message board fame is serious.
