Some thought the mental health angle was a sign of weakness or a ploy to absolve her from criticism....

It could be the stress of enduring hate from your home country Japan and the US black community for not being "enough" for either....

Being the "famous" one in a family and all that entails.....

Or she really could not be into the game anymore mentally.....she made a ton of $$ but with that comes a ton of attention and scrutiny.....

She's young as fuck, in love and rich....it's hard to stay that focused when your world has expanded exponentially in 2 years

EDIT: Let me say this, if she needs help due to depression or any other mental illness, then I 100% get it.

When I typed that, all I read was she didn't want to have to deal with the press after a loss.

My immediate thought was ALL the pressures that EVERYONE has to deal with at work, but don't get the financial rewards or world experience that someone like Osaka gets. I'll still leave my original comment, but wanted to explain it.

I wish more people would stand up to these pompous officials who think everyone must do as they say. Its insulting to think these officials who many have never won a damn thing get to call the shots against winners.

The players are the talent source. The players should be the one's calling the shots. Players need to run sports not officials.
 
She played it badly in my opinion. She should of planned this out ahead of time. Or, once she did plan to do this she should of gone with the Marshawn Lynch route and said she just didn't want to get fined. Which would of been a great fuck you to tennis.

With that said depression is a real thing and it affects a shit load of people.

Are you an introvert? Do you understand how difficult it is for us to even speak and deal with people in real life? We get no energy from it, it's fucking draining. After a 12 hour shift leading my crew and job I can't wait to go somewhere quiet to fucking recharge.

It has nothing to do with being weak because if it was she wouldn't be the champ, would she. She asked the fuckers to give her space, but they fined her, dissed her on social media and told her to shut up and dribble.
