Ortiz couldn't make 140? Why is he fighting at jr welter especially with welter being so thin? He came in at 155:eek:. Peterson's putting up a good fight but he's not doing much damage against the jr middleweight Ortiz.

Merchant is irritatting the shit out of me.

Sparse crowd, which is a shame considering the quality matchups.

Peterson is doing good seeing the size difference and his last performance. I like Ortiz, but I believe at this point, he really is not mentally tough enough to win at the elite level, especially when he doesn't have the size advantage. The sparse crowd I believe is indicative of the fact that the general population is not sold on Khan yet. I believe a great explosive performance tonight will go a long way to change that. With Ortiz being so big, but this being a Jr. Welter fight, I believe something has to be done about these boxer who are allowed to dry themselves out, but still come in two or three weight classes heavier than the fight mandate?!?!?? Someone is going to get seriously hurt one of these days behind that...

Weigh ins the day of the fight would kill it. With this being 10 instead of 12, Ortiz has another advantage because it's a shorter fight and he won't have to last as long.

Peterson is a champ for his effort.

Majority draw? :lol::lol: Fuck Vic.
For Peterson to even get that would mean he dominated Ortiz and the two knockdowns evened it up and I didn't see that but that's clearly how all three judges saw it since Peterson won on the third judges card.

Word. Ortiz might as well move up cause he has no chance at being the best at 140.

Peterson fought the better fight and Ortiz is lucky that he had those knock downs which by the way the ropes shit is questionable because that shit is rarely called unless its very clear that it was going to be a knock down aways.

I think Maidana would have knocked out Khan if he hadn't been so fatigued. I also thought Maidana was out for sure with that body shot, rarely see guys get up from body shots(from fights I've seen anyways).

I thought that was a good call. If the ropes weren't there, he's down.

By the way, what kind of fuck shit is Khan blaming his chin/recklessness on it being Ramadan?

I can believe that, if he's an observant Muslim. Fasting would fuck with him in training.
Still, it's not like it was his first Ramadan and he didn't have to take the fight.

Great fight.
:yes::yes:

Contender for fight of the year. IMO

Yep. It wouldn't be for 2009 but 2010 hasn't been as good.

I don't know he didn't look out of it or low like he was about to go down...

He did look off balanced, but I would of let it slide.

Still, it's not like it was his first Ramadan and he didn't have to take the fight.

1) Not really, its not like he works a 9 to 5. I know Muslims who work 3rd shifts and the fast doesn't even affect them. They just wake up and pray like normal and go right back to sleep. Khan might not of trained at night, but then it becomes about how he handled the fast.

2) He got hit with stiff clean shots and I can't see how him fasting or not fasting would have changed the outcome of that "L". Especially if I remember correctly that was in the first round. If it was in the later rounds... maybe, but come on.

3) A tired and outclassed Maidana put those things on him in this fight and Khan wasn't fasting this time.

It's real easy to handle Ramadan if you're a 3rd shifter since you can sleep during the day time hours. If he changed his eating and training patterns appropriately, it wouldn't be much of a difference but if he didn't, I could see it messing with him.

I'm not saying it did or didn't but I can see how it did.

And he didn't get knocked out this time or even put down.

Look, we're supposed to be the Co-Sign Crew, so just c/s whatever I fucking say or you're out of the gang!!!!!!

:D

...Seeing that Ortiz came in at almost 15 pounds over the limit in the fight and how he was able to connect on Peterson early, you would think that Ortiz would've gotten a TKO, esp. with the knockdowns that he had. However, Lamont was able to adjust and make it a competitive fight. Pulled a draw out of it, and really showed more to me than Ortiz did...Victor pretty much finished this bout like the battle with Maidana...

Khan-Maidana was a good fight...not foty material IMO (I got Marquez-Katsidis #1 that I can think of)...I really thought that Khan would dominate, especially off the first three rounds...he repeatedly got hit with uppercuts and the right hand when everyone KNEW that was what he had to avoid from Marcos. The 10th round could have been Khan's undoing as he looked forward to doing the wobble-wobble or something...someone who supposedly has the skills that he does should not get caught like that time after time.

It was a good doubleheader there, but overall I see that those four fighters could not beat either Bradley or Alexander...those two are clearly the best in the division...

Oh yeah I forgot that we never disagree or think for ourselves so I co-sign all of this

Victor just wasn't trying to fight. He wanted to cruise to a decision but Peterson was willing to fight like a power puncher/slugger to get something going and then fall back on to his boxing skills when Ortiz tried to be the aggressor. I think Lamont was hurting him which is not a good sign because Peterson isn't the biggest puncher and Ortiz was the bigger man. Ortiz might as well run out of the division and try the weaker welter weight division.

I wouldn't say this is the FOTY, but I'm drawing a blank on fights that were way better... I think of maybe 2 or 3 at the most this year. Khan came out looking sharp as shit I was about to throw any doubts I had about him out the window, but Maidana is probably one of the toughest son of a bitches, I've seen in a while. Maidana made this a fight for Khan's life and the average boxer wouldn't have made it past the 3rd round the way Khan was fighting in the beginning. I have no clue what the fuck happened, but Khan's sharpness disappeared in those middle rounds

Khan still has some work to do, cause Maidana shouldn't have landed those looping overhand rights or wild uppercuts like he did.

It was better than the PPV I've seen this year. I disagree though, I can see ways for Khan and Maidana to beat both Bradley and Alexander. In reality, I think any combination between the four can be a toss up due to styles. Including a rematch of this fight.

I think Peterson came out looking really good even with the two knockdowns and taking some ferocious blows.
If Ortiz insists on fighting at jr welter, if I'm any top jr welters, I would make him make the 140 limit and not an ounce over.

Quality wise, this puts some expectations on Bradley-Alexander to be a good fight. I hope they live up to it. Now Top Rank and GB, the ppv guys, need to add some of these matchups to their ppvs instead of making them one fight shows.

I agree with all this. Considering how big he was and how much he's struggled in a very deep division, I'd be surprised if Ortiz wasn't moved up to welterweight. He'd still be a big welterweight and that division has thinned out considerably. He would automatically get some attention from the Berto people.

Yeah, but he doesn't want any parts of Berto right now. Berto makes a lot of mistakes except for letting his hands go and if Peterson was hurting him, I would image Berto would land one-hitter, quitters on Ortiz.

Ortiz should beat up a lot of unknowns and then come at Berto.

Oh, I'm not saying he's ready for Berto, especially just coming into welterweight but that would be a marketable fight after he gets some notable tuneups (Carlos Quintana needs to slip Oscar his number and get that payday).

Shit, I wouldn't even match him with Quintana right now. Old ass Baldomir might want slip them his number, but he might pull that Cinderella Man shit again.

This has to be a top contender for FOTY. Kahn showed some great skills and a good chin against a guy he didn't have to fight. But Maidana seems to feel no pain (except for that body shot) he just doesn't seem to care. He is in full on predator mode at all times. Maidana is not the guy you want to meet up with in a bar fight, he almost seems to hunt you! Great fight! Need a rematch asap!

And I don't think Kahn was referring to fasting for Ramadan as the reason he got knocked down, he was referring to the fact that he fought (worked) during a holy time when all other Muslims don't work. He said that he thought that God was punishing him for "working" during Ramadan.
