I don't know if I agree with this. People need to understand that Oprah is on a totally different level. With Oprah being so rich and powerful, I am sure everyone is trying to get at her. Because of this she closes ranks and only interacts with her most trusted people. Gayle is probably the one person in the world Oprah trusts completely, so she keeps Gayle close. I think Gayle is the editor of Oprah's magazine and does other things for Oprah so Gayle is not only a friend but is also an employee. So Oprah pays Gayle to tag along. Gayle probably also helps keep Oprah grounded.
To be honest, I don't see how this is any different from how a lot of Hip Hop artist and celebs operate. Some Hip Hop artist pay childhood friends to be close and tag along. Doesn't 50 cent do this with Yayo?

Things changed drastically when Winfrey was 6-years-old and she moved to Milwaukee to live with her mother. Gone was the loving guidance and stability of her early childhood. Over the next several years, the girl was repeatedly sexually abused by various male relatives. Like many others who have been similarly abused, she rebelled. A self-proclaimed wild child, Winfrey dabbled in drugs and became promiscuous. When she was just 14, Oprah gave birth to a son. Sadly, the premature baby died shortly after birth.
I can't really say anything bad about this women because of the childhood she's had. Don't really care. She "made it". Maybe in her eyes.
