Ongoing: Movie/TV Fans, Name a movie or TV character who absolutely could not have been played by another person

Actors turn down roles all the time. We recently found out that Laurence Fishburne turned down the role of Jules Winfield, the role that turned Samuel L Jackson from a relative nobody into a star.

Some roles played by a particular actor that were so great that no one, and I mean no one could have performed that role that well

The person on Twitter came up with Quint from Jaws. My contribution is Denzel Washington as Malcolm X. What do y'all say?

Originally, Samuel L. Jackson and Matt Damon were considered. I like Samuel L. Jackson, but I personally prefer the "edge" that Denzel Washington brought to the character.

Davis Guggenheim was originally attached to direct the film, with Matt Damon as Jake Hoyt and Samuel L. Jackson as Alonzo Harris. Once Washington became attached to the project, however, he requested to have Guggenheim replaced. Eminem was offered the role of Jake Hoyt, but turned it down to star in 8 Mile.

Either one of these guys. James Gandolfini or Tony Sirico.

A character actor is a tricky place. Some of them are perfectly placed to be as big as they can be and they make that moment Oscar or anyworthy for just that small period of time they are on the screen.

Some of them aren't big enough or capable to be bigger than character actors. Tony sirico was one of those guys

And if you can name a better actor who could have played Tony soprano, name him. I dare you
