Old bat almost got swept out to sea

Uhhhhh, I didn't see her make it back. She must've been hurt cuz she wasn't trying to get up.

I almost drowned when I was 12. No one was around. Long story short. I lived. People underestimate the power of ocean/water.

If I was that dude in the yellow. I would have bailed a long time ago. Fuck that, they are BOTH old and they have lived their life.

I had a similar situation when I was 7, the power of the ocean is no joke

I had a similar situation when I was in the Navy. I swam out about a hundred yards at a point where the shelf below you disappears. And then the current took me out probably double that and I had to swim back against the current. Every 20 strokes must have taken me a foot.

The people on the beach look like dots and there is nowhere or nothing for me to do but swim for my life. I was in the Mediterranean Ocean in Italy with no lifeguard. When I finally made it to the beach I collapsed. The ocean is no joke. Water does not play

I had a similar experience at the age of 18 the tide.

At one point in in water barely below my knee, next thing I know the water is hitting my fucking chin and I'm being pulled out to sea.

I will never get in the ocean again.

Old bat????? come on dude :smh:

I didn't feel like typing cac.:dunno:

Never turn your back to the ocean.
Went to Hawaii on vaca, standing waist deep in the water looking back at hotel, and I got BLASTED by a rogue wave. The local bruhs working at hotel laugh and gave me the 411.

Same shit happened to me. I was jump up and down in the water and next thing i know I was pulled so far back and when I went down, I didn't feel the sand under me. I told someone this and they said I was on a sand cascade and the sand broke under me. I went so far down under water i didn't think I was gonna make it. I stopped fighting the water and said to myself I was gonna die. My friends were too far away to hear me. So I stayed still and didn't move. I felt the wave hit my back and it also pushed me forward. So i stayed still until some more waves hit me all they way back to shore.... I ran my ass out of the water. Cried. Said a prayer and went home. FUCK THE OCEAN WATER.

I've seen at least 3 green horns swept off the deck of ships by rogue waves. No respect for the sea and it's power. No instincts. When the waters get real quiet the vets are looking for something to anchor on to

I wish I would have known that because that is exactly what I was doing.

Back tuned to the ocean while I'm looking back @ the beach.

The power of the ocean humbled me and gave me a sense of the power of mother nature.

The most fascinating part is how quickly it happened.

Not trying to blame the victim but why would you approach the water when its churned up like that?

look how far and how quickly the water pulled back...
they had no clue the water was going to come in the way it did, that's why it really dangerous to be in or near the surf before a storm

Question is how many of y'all that experienced this went back for seconds?

I explained currents to my daughter when we went to PR. I had her stand while waves came in and show her how the current will pull you in.

not to be hyperbolic but the sea is like a woman. How many of us have been hurt by one and went back for more. Their beauty, their bounty, their ability to make you relax and whisk the day away are among the many reasons. At least for me. All the while knowing it's never a good idea to underestimate her.

I have... in the Caribbean I have a blue sky /no chop rule - in the US I listen to the weather service report on water condition and forecast before I go near the shoreline - beach or boatimg

Same thing I was thinking. All they did was walk into a narrow channel that increased the force of the receding waves.

arrrrgh matey!

I recently was scuba diving in the Caribbean and I can swear the ocean was trying to pull me in. I'm an above average swimmer by most standards but that day I felt like the ocean had other plans sucking me in further and further.

I grabbed my gear and got the hell outta there.

I have nothing but the utmost respect and adoration for the sea. Strongest substance on earth.
