OKC was never better than Miami. Now OKC is not garbage and is a good team but they are not yet on Miami's level.
The Spurs struggles with Miami. The Spurs are not an athletic team and their success is predicated on ball movement because besides Parker no other player can really create their own offense consistently.
The Heat dominates and gives the Spurs all kinds of trouble is because they destroy the pick N roll of the Spurs by switching. Miami's perimeter defense with their height, size and speed is exceptional.
The Spurs are not athletic and simply can't keep Wade, Bosh or Lebron from getting anywhere they want to on the court. Miami punishes the Spurs in the paint and dominates the boards.
OKC does not play the same elite defense on the perimeter the way Miami does. If OKC simply would switch on the Pick N roll the way Miami does it would stop the easy baskets by the Spurs.
Amazing what the right personnel in the game can do for a team.
