Ohio man rents out theater to watch 'Star Wars' alone

Have you watched the new "Star Wars" movie yet?

Craig Foreman has. He made sure he was one of the first people to see by renting out an entire auditorium in an Ohio movie theater to do so.

A self-described "superfan," Foreman secured 87 seats for a Thursday screening of the movie, according to Ohio.com. It cost him about $1,300 for the 3-D screening, but a group of fellow fans from the Ohio Star Wars Collectors Club purchased tickets from Foreman, which helped offset his cost.

Foreman has six lightsabers tattooed on his left arm, one for each movie in the franchise. He plans to add a seventh soon.

He first watched "Star Wars" as a re-release in 1979 and has collected memorabilia since he was young and continues to do so today, he told Ohio.com.

His favorite character when he was younger was Han Solo.

Foreman, who is the director and co-founder of Expedition Academy in Kent, Ohio, said he had been trying to book a screening for over a year.

We're supposed to believe your loser ass leaves your mom's basement???

GTFOH!!

Aint nothing like a bunch of wannabe thug assholes and wannabe bitch comedians messing the movie up for everyone else. Dude had the right idea. And 1300 is a small price to pay to keep the scum out. Especially if you have it like that.

All that talking sounds like this:

Shocked a theater chain would let him do that. It's bad business and press!
especially as they actually make their money selling lots of the pricey popcorn / drinks etc. One dude isn't exactly gonna cop that much of that.

I get people can fuck up the movie, but damn. I just rather go to an early showing in a theater that is out the way.

It's crazy! So a Theater worth of people were waiting outside for this asshole to get his moment? Like you said not selling those drinks and popcorn and all the other stuff Theaters need to sell to make money of those movies...

He needs to go ahead and upload that shit. I know he went in there with his camera so he could get a crisp copy without someone walking or coughing.
Mofos are not slick. $1300 is a small price for having the only crisp copy on the streets.

Imagine the concessions they missed out on renting it out to this fool and his friends.

True. I'd rent a real video studio camera. You can push those copies for $20 easily. I dropped almost $50 for two Imax 3D tix...imagine a family of four and kids want popcorn and soda. You're not leaving there spending less than $200

Various group rent the whole theater. Church groups, employers, social clubs, birthday parties. Not as uncommon as you may assume.

Group...not one asshole!

Read the real article, not the blogspam. He rented it out for his group, so 87 people were with him.

I used to run a movie meetup group. If you are in a large city and have a ton of active members media companies contacted me all the time to setup free screenings just to get the word out. They usually aren't exclusive, you are also there with radio contest winners, press, etc but it's a common thing. The theater is still making it's money from people buying concessions and depending on the deal they may be able to get some of the profit from the seats. I'm kind of surprised Disney made him pay for the rental though, but that was probably because it was one group.

Actually this was a regular movie showing and the 200 member fan club simply bought all 87 tickets on the first day sales became available. The explanation is clearly stated in the article. Since groups buying blocks of seats is done literally everyday, I'm not sure why this was newsworthy in the first place..

You actually expect BGOLers to READ an article before responding to it? That was almost ten whole sentences! What are you, WHITE?
JamesATL has a long history of posting click bait troll headlines that usually do not match the actual article. It's kinda been his "thing".
