UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre makes the trek to the Sport Science lab to see if he has what it takes to beat Jake Shields in the Octagon. St. Pierre showed off his stamina and punches to ESPN Sport Science's John Brenkus where he tested St. Pierre's power and speed.
- Stamina: When most fighters hit their ceiling (maximum), GSP is at 85% of his max
- Georges St. Pierre's punch registers at 2859 lbs of force
- Georges St. Pierre's kick registers at 3477 lbs of force
- Georges St. Pierre's punch/kick combo registers at 6000+ lbs of force in under 1 second
- Speed: Georges St. Pierre's takedown generates 2400 watts of power in 1.17 second (on par with Rashad Evans)
- Georges St. Pierre's superman punch moves at 15 feet/second (twice as fast as his normal punch)
To compare: Cain Velasquez's punch is 2230 lbs of force, Rampage Jackson's punch is 1800 lbs of force and Shogun Rua's kick is 2749 lbs of force.

Sure thing, fam'. Yeah - that's the thing about guys like Aldo and GSP. Even when they aren't at their best, and are underwhelming in their performances ... they're still so dominant. Props to Hominick on his heart. He's courageous and very technical/tactical with his stand-up. Also, with GSP he simply outclassed Jake. Even after suffering the corneal abrasion or cut to the lower eyelid late-2nd/sometime-3rd round ... he was still able to cruise to victory. Same thing with Aldo ... he was already up 4 rounds on Hominick, and Mark took it to him in the 5th but Aldo was still able to hold off the late comeback that was being mounted by the hometown cat. In regards to his energy level ... yeah - he was coming off of injury and having missed out on his January 1st bout, and dealing with rehabbing or healing a nagging injury in/around his back/spine and nerve-related ... so his weight cut was probably tougher than normal having been out of action for awhile. At the weigh-ins, as people have pointed out, he wasn't as amped up when he got on the scale ... more calm/even keel, and he reached for his fluids right afterward to beginning rehydrating.

Great fight from the early-2000s. Watched it the other night on The Fight Network. GSP vs. Ivan Menjivar. Both are now current training partners at Tri-Star gym in Montreal.
