I know you won't agree with me, but the 2nd time around it looked like Machida was fighting more to win than Shogun. Sure those were some hard kicks that Shogun landed, but none of them could've ended the match. Remember, you have to beat the champion. With that said, I don't think Rampage should've lost to Forest Griffin either. Machida didn't lose the match, but Shogun revealed a way that it's possible to beat him.
In any event, an unanimous decision (either way) is still a bit ridiculous to me. And a rematch is a must.
I'll watch this match in a week or so again to see if my view on it changes.
Fighting more and failing? His shots were being blocked. Leg kicks can't end a match? There ar4e SEVERAL examples of people quitting due to leg kicks. Not to mention body kicks. Franklin beat Matt Hammil with a body kick. Ask Charles McCarthy about David Louiseau's body kick.
There is no "beat the champion" in MMA. That's boxing.
The difference between this and Forrest is that Rampage knocked Forrest down and almost finished him in the 1st. And he took him down several times. Machida had little to no offense.
