That's the way.

Know your risk level and take the profits.

No shame in that, that is how it should be done.

I made over 50% on this one last year. Sold before gold started to dip. I feel this one is going to hit at least 70 before the summer. Its a gold ETF.

subbed. gonna pick this knowledge up with a shovel. I know a little bit. May jump in on of them simulated stock market games to get acquire more knowledge. Wouldnt mind being semi retired by 45, its possible

Just got into the market about three months ago. Made a couple of mistakes but it was well worth money lost. I look at it as paying for an education.

Now, I'm in the full swing of things. I study, analyze and read up every day. Hit some pretty nice stocks. I will give you an example.

Following stock made out nice for me. A Hepatitis C company that was bought out.

01/03/2012 INHX INHIBITEX INC
+20.000 Price: $10.10
12/20/2011 INHX INHIBITEX INC
+50.000 Price: $10.50
12/13/2011 INHX INHIBITEX INC
+30.000 Price: $14.10
11/25/2011 INHX INHIBITEX INC
+80.000 Price: $11.62
11/07/2011 INHX INHIBITEX INC
+20.000 Price: $10.15

The reason I kept buying is because another Hep C company was bought out prior to my third purchase. All the analysts and experts predicted that INHX will be the next Hep C company to be bought. So I ended up with 200 shares.

The buy out price end up being $26/share which was announce on 1/7/2012. You can do the math and see what I netted.

Trust me on this one. If you got it, take the chance on these two below:

ACHN - ACHILLION PHARMACEUTICALS INC
IDIX - IDENIX PHARMACEUTICALS INC

They are the next two Hep C companies that are predicted to be bought this year. Once INHX buyout was announce, ACHN and IDIX both shot through the roof. They are falling little right now which I believe they are being set up to be acquired.

I'm no expert by far because like I mentioned above I just started but I'm definitely in the black now by a decent amount.

http://www.smallstocks.com/article/3-potential-pharma-buyout-targets

Idenix Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: IDIX) – The Inhibitex/Bristol-Meyers deal revolved around the company’s unique Hepatitis C treatments. Also, in this sub-sector, we’ve seen Gilead Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ: GILD) plan a $11 billion purchase of Pharmasset Inc. (NASDAQ: VRUS). That’s why it would be wise to keep Idenix Pharmaceuticals on your radar. The stock popped double-digits earlier this week thanks partly to the Inhibitex deal— and partly because the company released positive interim data for its own Hep C drug. I would not be surprised if additional rumors related to multiple Big Pharma suitors were to emerge in the coming weeks and months

Achillion Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: ACHN) – The timing on the Inhibitex deal couldn’t have been more perfect for yet another Hep C drug developer, Achillion Pharmaceuticals. Achillion also released positive data earlier this week, boosting awareness among investors— and catapulting the company to the top of many analysts’ lists of buyout contenders in this space. A market cap of just over $800 million makes this company the perfect size for a buyout.

http://www.thestreet.com/story/1138...html?puc=tscmarketwatch&cm_ven=tscmarketwatch

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Wall Street investors remain bullish on hepatitis C drug stocks and by a wide margin believe Idenix Pharmaceuticals(IDIX_) will be acquired.
ISI Group biotech analyst Mark Schoenebaum held a lunch meeting Friday for 120 investors to discuss the current state of hepatitis C drug development. As part of his meeting, Schoenebaum surveyed his investor audience -- made up of 30% generalists, 20% arbs and 30% specialists -- on their views and opinions about the current red-hot topics in hepatitis C.

Asked if Idenix Pharma has a greater than 50% chance of being acquired, 79% of the investors responded in the affirmative, 21% said no.

The group was more evenly split on Achillion Pharmaceuticals'(ACHN_) chances for a takeout, with 49% leaning yes and 51% saying no.

Once the company I'm watching exits bankruptcy, makes it merger(s) and re-enters the NYSE or the NASDAQ I will be touting its new symbol :D

and that company is.....

Washington Mutual

They're about to go through confirmation hearings to approve the plan of reorganization to exit Chap 11. The shareholders won the fight to keep their ownership and will own 95% of the new company (whatever it will be). Its too late in the game to play around with it now and the future is uncertain so I wouldn't advise anyone else to buy any stocks without knowing the risks. Just be on the lookout for when they start trading again after they emerge

Anyone know the tax rules if you get out of one stock to buy another?

Let's say you invested $100 in ABC stock 5 years ago and that $100 grew to $1000.

If I sell all my $1000 ABC shares and buy $1000 XYZ the same day do I have to pay taxes on the $900 profit making me have to sell some shares to pay the taxes?

You pay taxes at the end of the year that you sold the stock.

Let's say you sell ABC then when doing your taxes at the end of this year, it would be included.
Your brokerage statement will show if you will be taxed at short or long term capital gains.

At the end of the day taxes will come from somewhere in your pants no matter which pocket you choose to take it out of.

You don't pay immediate taxes though at the point of sale.

I fux with wells fargo brokerage, they got a hundred free trades a year, and I just barely make 29.

so far its working niiiiiicee.....

and you really cannot go wrong with ford...

metro pcs sounds sweet I will follow it today...

RIM is looking sweet to, that shit dropped fuckin damn near 70 percent, it might be below fifteen dollars....

sounds like a sweet time to swoop in, they are changing platforms If I aint mistaken they are focusing on android based phones and working in a new direction...

I just see them putting too much energy into that music business and not enough into innovation.

still a stock to watch, if that shit goes under ten dollars I am swoopin in.

Does wells Fargo brokerage have a app like etrade - etrade does charge alot for trades- I'm looking to invest again
