Official NBA 2017-2018 Thread - Final day of the regular with playoff seating still unknown

Maybe you right.

I know he is young and had the injuries to deal with.

I just never seen one game where he gave some flashes of matching the hype.

To be honest I haven't either but with Russell there, they had no pure facilitator so you had a bunch of young guys chucking. I think that's the reason they brought Ball in to get the team good shots but honestly I really don't see Ball breaking down the defense that often. He's more of a tempo guard ala Magic but Magic can always get a guard on his hip and use his height. Lonzo may eventual learn to do that but it's going take time.

What is a tempo guard?

It's more to that than being a point guard, it's about finding the open man and getting your teammates in the right spot

and most guards who break down their man, aren't even point guards...they do it to create for themselves, their teammates secondly

Blake is killing Randle down low, over powering him and he knows he can't block his shot

Uptempo, face pace. Lonzo does a great job of pushing the ball forward but I haven't seen his even in college break down the defense in half a court set consistently.

An example of point guard breaking down a defense to set us his teammate in the half court

Ummmm, did you watch those highlights? He didn't get in the lane on any of them besides the fast break. The rest he just passed to the open shooter.

Lonzo just needs to work on his pick and roll offense, because he didn't do it much at UCLA

You dont have to get into the lane for the defense to converge. Nevertheless I hope Lonzo works on his p&r because that's something he's never done. I just wished he went for his more. Attack the basket, get in the lane, get to the line.

:hmm:

You realize they have PG13 and Melo on the team, right?
When teams sag off Roberson and pack the paint. It will require Melo and PG13 to shoot a lot of highly contested jumpers because teams will pack the paint. It will make OKC easy to defend because you could easily trap

So defensively you want to FORCE Paul George and Melo to do what they do best?

Also, your math doesnt add up.

I know it's just the first game of the season but my fuckin Lakers.:smh:
Why the fuck is Deng starting.

Did Roberson just get with them?

Chris Paul Reportedly Could Miss Up to a Month with Knee Injury

Houston Rockets point guard Chris Paul could reportedly miss up to a month as he continues to battle a bruised left knee, according to the New York Times' Marc Stein.

Paul, who did not play down the stretch of Tuesday night's season opener against the Golden State Warriors, missed Wednesday's clash with the Sacramento Kings and has already been ruled out for Saturday's home opener against the Dallas Mavericks.

According to Stein, the Rockets will continue to list him as "day-to-day."

Following Tuesday's 122-121 win over the Warriors at Oracle Arena, Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni told reporters the point guard was "dragging his leg a little bit" and that he felt it was necessary to remove him from the game.

D'Antoni added Paul "is playing on one leg right now," per the Associated Press (via USA Today).

With Paul absent, the Rockets started reigning Sixth Man of the Year Eric Gordon in his place Wednesday evening. Gordon finished the 105-100 win with 25 points, four rebounds and three assists.

The timing of Paul's injury is hardly ideal considering the Rockets were looking forward to building chemistry between him and new running mate James Harden, but Houston can take solace in the fact that Harden is more than capable of taking the reins.

Through two games, the 2016-17 MVP runner-up is averaging 27.0 points, 9.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game on 40.9 percent shooting from the field and 34.8 percent shooting from three.

Looks like a shortened training camp and preseason didn't help at all. :smh:
