Official NBA 2017-2018 Thread - Final day of the regular with playoff seating still unknown

I hate when dudes do that shit.

He will be fine, he's a rookie

What rookies haven't struggled, Kuzma and Ben Simmons, and Simmons isn't really a rookie.

He has decent quickness, he just doesn't have great lateral quickness. And he is a two feet jumper which makes it more difficult.

He is.
How is simmons not a rookie again?

Okc should focus heavily on defense. That's would be their identity.

They're #3 in defense behind Boston and Portland. The problem is the bench sucks, Roberson sucks as a starter and Russ needs to take over at the end of games.

The starters played heavy minutes last night and Russ played the way he's supposed to.

I'd say slump. He's probably a 42% shooter that will hit the NBA 3 at 34% or so. Plus he's streaky. It's on Kuzma, Clarkson, Ingram and KCP to do the scoring. Lopez seems to have lost his touch

Gotta give Lopez his looks on the inside first before allowing him to take all those threes. Inside out

They have the worst 2 guard situation in the league. But their bigger issue is iso ball. Those guys take turns pounding the ball and taking low percentage shots.

That was the problem going into the season which is why they wanted Wade. That dude Roberson is ass. He airballs free throws. I don't care what kind of defender he's supposed to be. With him on the court it's 5 on 4.

Most of their losses are by 8 points or less. Monte Ellis could give you 10 points a night and play defense.

Come on bruh! GSW gets little to no calls once every blue moon and now the whole world gotta stop to hear them bitches crying. That is something GSW should overcome easily with all that fire power on that squad. They lost because they didn’t take OKC seriously and thought they were gonna come in and wreck. Didn’t happen! OKC and Russ never backed down.
It's a sensative subject. The Dubs are the most hated team of all sports.

Totally disagree from a basketball standpoint. If the definition of alpha is talking shit cool, but basketball wise, Durant has more than proven hes an alpha. Just check highlights of last years finals. No deference or anything, when it was winning time, he took the big shot and made the big play. To me, performing like that on the big stage, being the best player on the court and dominating your team to a chip screams alpha...

Nah bruh, you can be confident knowing you got alphas around you. GSW let Durant shine and he did his thing, but alpha he is not. It’s easy for a player of his caliber to shine with a loaded offensive power house. He fit in. The finals proved that his team was dominate and he was able to eat off of it. That’s why he went there. What Kyrie did was an alpha move! He wanted to be the man on his own and not ride the coattails of anotha nigga. What KD was a Beta move and joined a powerhouse. I’ve never knocked KD for his game because the boy can ball but he’s proven more than not that he isn’t an alpha.

Respect... so, theoretically what is your definition of an alpha?

The 2008 Celtics wasn't a very efficient offensively and they had a weak link in Perkins, but they focused on defense. Made it their identity.

That's how I see OKC. Just a team with a lot of potential to lock up. Offensively, I don't believe the chemistry will not be fluent like that. They just need to close games because they have star that can get their shot off.

And yes, their bench suck. The '08 Celtics had a much better bench.

Put it like this, if you only have that alpha dog mindset because you got your boys with you then you’re not an alpha. You can’t be an alpha dog just because you got backup. You gotta carry that shit by yourself. Now, i used to believe that KD could be that dude but i don’t see it in him to be honest. Even when he was with OKC he was the beta to Russ. Russ has proven that he’s an alpha since day one. He carries that shit. He ain’t afraid to be who he is. There’s no questioning that with Russ. Now with KD, you can question it a bit. Like i said, KD can ball and i love his game, but i just don’t see an alpha in him.

Plus KD didn’t go after Lebron’s neck until he got with GSW. That says a lot.

So, theoretically, LeBron isn't an alpha dog either. Point being, different context but LeBron also makes sure he has his'boys' with him when ge goes from team to team. Not shitting on LeBron, just using him since he's the most relevant analogy. There are only a handful of alpha dogs at best in the league then.... :dunno:

Home cookin par for the course

And of course GS nemesis ref was in the House Monty McChutchen lmaooo

I knew them niggas was losing that game.. that’s pretty much a guarantee that’s why I always bet against GS when he’s the ref... either cover the spread or outright loss

It’s already happening, it’s blatant at this point.. You see teams now stacking talent with big 3s now only advantage GS got over the rest of the league is a big 4 and bench.

GMs are starting to do their jobs now.. GS still got another 2-3 yr run depending on off season acquisitions

Perkins wasn't counted on to score and when he got offensive rebounds he'd score or go to the line. I can not impart how much Roberson sucks. He's an ok defender that provides no scoring. He's worse than Shumpert.

If you type his name into YouTube search engine the first thing that comes up is "airball". And not just for one video. A BUNCH of videos come up.

And to keep it 100 with you, Melo is a closer as well.

Yea im kinda surprised how quickly the league caught up to them. You can also see their defensive effort has gone down from 2015 when they were #1. They still should be favored to win it this year but I doubt they sweep thru the playoffs as easy as last year. We can count on our hand how many teams had championship runs beyond 4 years.

Roberson is trash. No argument from me.

But I guess my point was Perkins and Roberson were used similarly. To play a very particular role and when they score anything, it was extra. However, I believe Perkins was much more valuable to Boston overall than Roberson is to OKC.

True. And until they address that will be the thing that keeps them from contending.

There has to be a 2 guard somewhere they can sign that will give then 8 - 10 points a game.

Was he drafted in 2017 with Fultz? Did he get paid last year?

Is Ingram a rookie because he's younger than Lonzo?

Doesn't matter. Your Rookie season is identified by when you officially play the games. Did he play one minute last year? He's played the same amount of games as any other rookie this year. Him being so much better than any other rookie isn't because of his draft year, it's because he's better.

Your Ingram analogy is a reach... Did Ingram play the entire season last year?!?! No sense to that logic at all... None...

Fortunately, the official league definition is based on the common sense logic that rookie is based on games played and response accordingly. Basing it on draft year and not actual court time makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

In what year did he leave college and get drafted?

Does last year not count until he becomes a restricted free agent?

Draft year is irrelevant, on court play is the official measure as it should be and is.

In terms of his on court experience it doesnt. Him or any other player who misses their draft year based on injury are considered a rookie which is why barring an act of God he will be a runaway officially recognized ROY this year.

He still was involved in coaching and practices for all of last year

The NBA's rule is stupid. All those years Aaron Rodgers sat behind Favre, they didn't count his first year playing as his rookie year. Homeboy from Dallas who was injured last year, this year isn't his rookie year.
