Official Mavericks vs Lakers Thread 3/12/11

Lakers were just too long for the Mavs. The score is rather close but the Mavs never stood a chance. They just got lucky Kobe wasn't beasting and they were shooting shitty from the free throw line. Marion played a GREAT game. Just out hustled everyone.

Dirk passing up that jumpshot to give it to Chandler pretty much sums up why the Mavs won't ever be shit and why i've been pleading for a #2 here or a #1. Its fine passing up a shot for Melo or passing up a shot for Granger. But he's passing up shots to Chandler and JET. Chandler played it perfect. Box out. Dirk has to take that shot.

Andrew Bynum is a beast. All I can do when I watch him is think damn. 23 years old. We gotta see this muthafucka for atleast 10 more years in Dallas. What a luxury it is to have Gasol, Odom and Bynum. Just too long for the Mavs to compete.

And Carlisle does this team no favors with his rotations. A lineup of JJB, JET and Cardinal. By far the worst defenders in the league.

:itsawrap:

Kobe damn near breaks his ankle and leaves the game, and the Mavs let the deficit increase. Not type of killer instinct at all :lol::lol:

Nobody out West wants to see LA in the Spring. Mavs better choke in the first to save themselves the embarassment.

Bynum at full strength in the playoffs :itsawrap::itsawrap::itsawrap:

Calm down, Kobe fucked up in the clutch in that game. MIA doesn't want it with LA in the Finals

Nuggets got size too so....

Yo Dtown no excuse ya'll was suppose to beat the Lakers... They were too long for MIA and who won that? lol

Well let's be for real. Lakers only get up to play REAL contenders. They let niggas like the Bobcats, Cavs and MIAMI HEAT do what they want. They don't get up to play niggas like that.

Mavs don't have killer instinct but what do you call it when the Lakers outplay the Mavs all game and you let them stay around? That's the definition of no killer instinct. Let's be for real. At the time Kobe went out Dirk went out as well.

I'll concede that LA didn't play great offensively and should have won comfortably by double digits, but this was a big regular season win. If Dirk went to the locker room with a seemingly serious injury, how do you think the Lakers or Spurs would respond. They would have smelled the blood and went in for the kill. Dallas was in the perfect position to make a run and they couldn't. They needed a piss poor free throw performance by LA to even stay in the game. LA is reminding these frauds out West who the real champion is and it's going to continue all the way until LA hoists that trophy in June.:lol::lol::dance::dance::dance:

I admire you're dedication, but let's get serious here. LA went into Denver this season and won. Nene and a washed up Kenyon Martin is not fucking with LA. LA is statiscally better this season than last year. LA will hopefully have a full strength Bynum, Odom shows up every game now, Artest is in a zone on both sides of the ball and the Killer B's off the bench are a legit second unit. Denver is a feel good story, but all that fairy tale shit ends in the playoffs.

Two deep at every position homie. Putting up 125 and 131(last two games) without two of our lethal offensive weapons and playing better defense post-trade. LA(and the West) might be in for a surprise. I'll hold off until we beat better comp though.

The other reason I will keep quiet is because in order for Denver and LA to meet in the playoffs as it stands Denver would have to go through OKC AND San Antonio.:smh:

but until then...........see you April 3rd.:hmm:

I agree with everything you said

Roddy B has a short leash while Barea can do whatever

Carlise has pathetic rotations overall

:smh: like when Barea took that horrible shot @ the end of Q1
:smh: like when Barea had that turnover on that ugly drive
:smh: it took for Barea to argue w/ Dirk on a blown assignment to get benched.

With how small our backcourt is, Carlisle should've played Brewer & Stevenson more. When the Lakers got 4 team fouls w/ 10min left in the 4th...he should've put in Roddy & Brewer and told them to attack the basket.

Andrew Bynum is a beast. All I can do when I watch him is think damn. 23 years old. We gotta see this muthafucka for atleast 10 more years in Dallas. What a luxury it is to have Gasol, Odom and Bynum. Just too long for the Mavs to compete.

man, if bynum is healthy...fuck Dwight Howard. Dude's spin move in getting to be shaq like unstoppable. Remember when Howard use to get his shit stole all the time, bynum keeps the ball high & gets out the spin quickly looking to smash on somebody. beyond the length...the Lakers did a good job of attacking the ball on D. Fisher, Kobe, Artest, Blake, Brown all attacked whoever had the ball & didn't allow any drives into the paint. When guys did, those trees were there waiting.

thats on carlise bitch ass

I agree. You know his dumbass does this everytime we play the Lakers. Somehow he manages to sit Dirk and Kobe at the same time. Which I guess is probably the logical thing to do but for me i'm not relying on Barea and JET and these other niggas. Not only that man Dirk sat out for a while that 4th quarter. I can't even recall how long but I do know he didn't take a shot until about 3 minutes left in the quarter because soon as it happened i'm like oh great now Dirk has to get us out of this shit in 3 minutes. People wanted Avery Johnson out of here for sitting Kidd in the clutch of a game. Carlisle constantly fucks up rotations and I don't hear a peep from anyone.

Damn play boi its like that?

Hell yea it is. Miami gotta beat more teams over.500 for me to quit shitting on them every chance I get.

*tears*

But on the real though if LA get lax during the playoffs they might be headed for an early exit.

I'm seeing a upset from someone in that 1st round. I mean doesn't it happen virtually every year anyway? Superstars may be heading out East but the West is still the deepest conference.

I'm still not sold that the Lakers can just "show up" and win in the playoffs. I should be but i'm not. I got respect for them as champs but I don't think its a cakewalk to make it to the Finals like everyone believes. Top 4 teams in the west are all capable of being ousted in the 1st round IMO. All have a weakness that can be exploited by a hungry team.

Mavs couldn't capitalize because they're best player was out of the game. And let's be for real. Kobe wasn't doing shit anyway. I was mad when he sprained his ankle. I was hoping he'd stay in the game and continue to be a black hole. He leaves the game than Steve Blake comes into the game and exploits the Mavs lack of perimeter defense. I knew it would happen. I agree the Mavs don't have killer instinct but I just think its a ironic a Lakers fan is saying that because the Lakers to me stay in cruise control. Even tonight.

Denver might have a shot against OKC, but I have to see how they integrate Perkins first. But Denver definitely can't beat San Antonio, so I guess the April 3 meeting in LA is probably the last chance they get at LA this season.

Nuggets dont even have more size or length than the Mavs

You are not in the discussion

Mavs have 5 players 6'10 and above
Lakers have 5 players 6'10 and above
Nuggets have 6 players 6'10 and above.

Nuggets got bodies. Nonathletic big bodies that can hopefully clog up the paint and get boards. That's all they need to do.

Are seriously counting on contributions from Ely, Mosgov, & Koufus in the playoffs? Hell, Gallo defensively is a liability. Based on Karl's true rotations:
6'11- Nene, 6'10-Birdman, 6'9- K.Mart aint cutting it in the playoffs.

*sidenote*
I think the Nuggets could beat the Mavs, I'm salty cause I want payback for that embarrassing asswhipping in the playoffs a couple years ago.

Yea Bynum is much more skilled than Dwight. Dwight plays strictly off his athleticism. He's a BEAST don't get me wrong but I think Dwight has sort of hit his wall. He'll still be dominant but sky is the limit for Bynum. Lakers are lucky to have him.

And yea Carlisle's rotations are shit. You aren't a serious contender throwing Barea and Cardinal out there. I'm sorry. And to make matters worse sometimes these dudes are in the game at the same time.

Kobe wasn't doing shit, but you still have to respect him when he's on the court because he's can catch fire at any time. As for Dirk being on the bench, that's on the coach. Kobe left with 2 minutes left in the 3rd and came back with 6 left in the 4th. Why wasn't Dirk out on the floor when the game was in grasp. I think Dirk came back when Kobe came back, which makes zero sense.

LA is a different team since the All-Star break. They haven't really been in cruise control like they were early in the season. They didn't play great offensively tonight, but it's the last game of a long road trip and that's understandable. If you don't think LA has a killer instinct this season, ask OKC, Portland and San Antonio.

I agree. It wouldn't shock me one bit if the Mavs and Nuggets were to meet in the post season and we lose to them. Not at all.

I've only seen a few Nuggets and Knicks games this year but I don't think Gallanari is a liability defensively. When i've seen him play i've been surprised how his game is nothing like most foreigners. He seems to be far more aggressive than other foreigners in the league. They usually like to let the game come to them.

Well let's be for real here. Let's name some of these guys. Nuggets only got 2 guys over 6'10 that will even get any burn in the post season and not one of them is of the capability of Gasol, Odom or Bynum.

Yeah my opinion means nothing really cuz I will always sound bias but Nene, Martin, and Bird got the Nuggets to six games in the WCF in 09 and we were hurting because we didn't have enough big bodies to keep throwing at them. Now we do so yes if need be they can/will contribute in that aspect.

You are also forgetting that this Nugget team is very explosive. If they get off, you can call it quits. Sometimes a strong offense makes a strong defense.

*okay i'm done for real*

Offensively he's very aggressive like Pau & Bargnani, but defensively...he doesn't move the same. Though at times he shows flashes. DEN still got "niggas" on that squad & we'd back down. K-Mart intimidates us, Nene would hammer us, JR would hit a 3 spasm out and we'd revert into a shell:smh:

Dude you sound you still having flashbacks of 09. Mavs are a tougher squad than that year imo. I talk a lot of Nuggets but obviously I give the Mavs/Spurs the biggest shots at dethroning the WCF defending champs especially with homecourt.

yeah but not by much

we have marion and chandler now but they really arent tough players they just play hard

butler is a tough player but he is hurt

Like I said above, Carlisle's rotations are shit. He does this everytime the Lakers play the Mavs. He sits Dirk when Kobe sits. As far as the Spurs go, you just brought up the Lakers didn't play great tonight because of a long road trip? Well the Lakers caught the Spurs at the end of a 4 game stretch where they played 4 games in 6 days. They caught the Thunder at the same exact time too. On the last game of a stretch of 4 games in 6 days.

All that shooting and grandstanding after the Miami game and Kobe goes 6 for 20.........and they still win. Mavs are soft as Acur pussy.

Dude you sound you still having flashbacks of 09. Mavs are a tougher squad than that year imo. I talk a lot of Nuggets but obviously I give the Mavs/Spurs the biggest shots at dethroning the WCF defending champs especially with homecourt.

They gotta prove it in May. Chandler is nice, but since the break...they refs are giving him 2 fouls real quick. In the playoffs we can expect much of the same. he's going to be sitting early. We still don't have a real #1, Dirk isn't the type to carry a squad. Because we won't win the midwest, LAL will have home court. Its almost better for us to slip to that 4th seed & get on the SAS side of the bracket.

 @ Having "niggas". Shit is true though. They got the exact type of niggas that the Mavs would fold to. Mavs have always been grabbing the soft minded guys to go along with Dirk. Shawn Marion got a little of that "thug" in him. Hell he use to be one of the ones that we use to fold too. Chandler wouldn't fold but the rest of this team? I can already see them folding like some hoes.

All that shooting and grandstanding after the Miami game and Kobe goes 6 for 20.........and they still win. Mavs are soft as Acur pussy.

I'm guessing you didn't watch the game. Kobe got hurt in the 3rd and that's when the game opened right back up for the Lakers to the point where when Kobe came back the Mavs down 3 and Dirk passes up a shot to pass it to Chandler who's boxing out for a turnover. Mavs are soft but their softness didn't lose them the game tonight. Stupidity did. Lakers played better when Kobe was out then they did when he was out there. Kobe settling for bullshit while Gasol and Bynum just taking layups and getting what they want.

Yea Bynum is much more skilled than Dwight. Dwight plays strictly off his athleticism. He's a BEAST don't get me wrong but I think Dwight has sort of hit his wall. He'll still be dominant but sky is the limit for Bynum. Lakers are lucky to have him.

Man, Bynum is ok. He's slow and slows the offense to a crawl. He benefits greatly from having Gasol and Kobe there.
If he were on a team where he was the main offensive threat, he'd be defended.
He hasn't shown any abilities in beating double teams.

yep

C'mon ya'll know how them CACs in Dallas are...they want a good white face on every franchise. Jerry was the only one who didn't buy into that bullshit, but he aint got Jimmy picking the thugs so he was striking out...until he got Romo. Now he's content with a pussified team cause he's selling jerseys & selling out.
