Official Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez (with link)

This is so correct.....BODY POSITIONING and FOOT WORK go a long way in fights....

And this is also another reason why i enjoy watching the European commentators instead of those clowns on HBO. All night they were saying "look at Marquez, his goal is to keep his lead foot outside and to the right of Pacquiao's lead foot." Every time Marquez got tagged, they would run the replay and point specifically to that..... "look at JMM's feet.....look at their positioning.....INSIDE of manny's" this was done for spacing, and also to keep manny's power hand/punch (straight left hand) out of the fight. Marquez eliminated that left hand of Pacquiao.

Another thing....this complaint of sudden power by JMM.....first off Pacquiao came in 4 lbs heavier than JMM. also, like someone else said (except he was off a tad in his assessment) you can tell the casual fan vs the hardcore boxing fan. The punches that hurt the most, that knock you out are the ones you never see coming and are well placed (accurate). Manny never saw that punch coming.....by the time he saw it, all he could do was say aaahhhhhhh and eat that bitch....and as far as accuracy, you see the results from the punch.....that's a DREAM punch, right on the button.

look at this video....B-Hop said it best.....it's a lot of knowledge on here, but start at 1:05 mark to see what I'm saying....

"a accurate punch feels like a hard punch, because of the shock"

Same thing andre ward was doing to chad dawson...except instead of the straight right, he was coming over the top with the short left hook that dawson couldn't see. Its the same game plan, I am assuming, Mayweather was going to do to Pac.

The funny thing is that now Pac fans are saying Marquez was on something. However, since all that was alllowed was "Bob Arum and Manny" Testing...well he isn't gonna get caught (if he did cheat).

Niggas are cold blooded, man. :smh:

In addition to that, but if you watch about 40 seconds prior to the KO, Marquez throws the same exact combination when Pacquaio tries the 1-2 when he's too close. Marquez positions himself on Manny's right, dips and lowers the boom. It lands, but not flush. It's amazing to see. Ignacio is one hell of a strategist.

I just moved JMM to #2 all-time Mexican fighter behind his retired stablemate the great Ricardo Lopez, Jr. I always thought RL was the better fighter than JCC*.

Chavez?

Pac dumb ass was over aggressive and leaping into punches after he has already been dropped and got caught with the perfect punch....end of story. Roach is sounding like a real bitch right now especially considering the speculation regarding Pacman

yeah dude was on that wild shit,

& it caught up with him!

EXACTLY my point.....Mayweather would never in a million fights get caught like that.....

Yep...never...that's just reckless and irresponsible. Real "boxers" like Marquez, Floyd, Bhop are intellectual fighters that don't make amateur mistakes like that.

Not only that, if you look at the KO in slow motion, it's a poor man's version of Mayweather's signature punch, the Pullcounter.

If Floyd and Manny had fought, I think Mayweather would have purposely pulled his foot off the gas to further embarass Manny and shutup his detractors. He's devious like that.

Yeah. Check out Lopez on YT. He's my favorite fighter to watch of the last 25+ years. He changed the game for modern Mexican fighters. None of that take two to deliver one crap. He was a throwback to Miguel Canto who couldn't bust a grape but would box your ears off. Lopez's technique was beautiful and after he felt like he clowned you enough, he'd take you out of your misery.

Yessir! Matter of fact I responded to Eewwll citing the same thing. It could've been MUCH WORSE for Pac. As devastating as the knock out was, Marquez pulled that punch some, showing MERCY to Pac . . . at least in that instance.

Given Marquez's formidable power, it could've turned a good sporting event into something more tragic. Well played Juan. Well played.

Manny always fights like that though. He's gets off-balance, lunges, and throws wild combos leaving himself completely exposed. That is perfect for a counterpuncher, Marquez finally just caught him with that perfect punch this time.

But you could see it coming, Manny was lazy and going to the same combo while lunging.... Manny just timed that shit perfectly.

Manny always fights out of control like that though. Manny is a brawler that evolved into a real puncher.... but he's not in the class of a marquez or mayweather.... this really is the 4th time Marquez beat him in my opinion. He's always "outboxed" Manny

Kats are just making excuses for an over hyped fighter who not only has losses on his 'record but also knock downs to boot.

I'm 46 years old. I know who Lopez is. I just think that Chavez was a better fighter and thought you may have forgotten him. But I won't argue with your choice.
