mavs thread!!!!!!!
just got back. game had a little bit of everything tonight.
for dallas fans, deshaun stevenson and corey brewer fucked up the D assignment on tobe. they were supposed to allow penetration, but guard the jumper. deshaun stevenson started out exactly the opposite and got yanked. the only 2 mavericks that stuck with the D gameplan (as far as tobe is concerned) was jason kidd and shawn marion.
first time to get a decent look at corey brewer and i can tell you why other teams passed on him. the young man IS DEATHLY AFRAID OF THE BASKETBALL on O. ask him to shoot it, OK. ask him to handle it, and it might as well be a live hand grenade.
all of the mavericks' backcourt players need to sharpen up their passing and coach carlisle needs to improve spacing and passing angles. the mavericks were way too sloppy with the ball in the 1st half and beginning of Q3.

the double T with tyson chandler was unnecessary.
jason terry fouling lamar odom before half was DUMB.
refs made a horrible call on dirk nowitzki with ron artest. ron artest elbowed dirk nowitzki in the BACK OF THE HEAD. at a minimum it should've been a double T.
pau gasol clearly hit dirk nowitzki on the back of the head in Q4. that was NO flop by the euro.
how about that awesome clutch footwork by tobe? stumble bum fell into pau gasol during the handoff in Q4!

i saw someone who doesn't know much about basketball suggested that pau gasol was ass the whole game. what game was that person watching?
pau gasol had 15 points on only 10 shots, shooting 50%.
pau gasol had 11 rebounds, more than double any other fakers starter.
pau gasol had a TEAM high 7 assists.
and i know this is WAY WAY WAY over the head of fakers fans, but pau gasol also had the highest +/- of any fakers player.
but pau gasol was the problem tonight.

i knew as long as tobe kept chucking up his bricks, the mavericks still had a chance. it was only a matter of time before tobe shot the mavericks back into the game.

Still early and I think the lakers are going to win the series IF they play team basketball but if the chucker plays like he did last night and throw his teammates under the bus...

Ron Artest shot 1 for 8 in 31 minutes of play. This is unacceptable for a starter in the playoffs. That means he was not a factor and the Mavs are playing their percentages against him. I would use the same formula against Artest because I don't believe he can be consistent for 4 games against the Mavs.

Dude, Gasol cannot establish himself in the post. He gets pushed around too easily. I think we ALL know Kobe will chuck 'em up there if given the slightest bit of encouragement, but Pau Gasol gets pushed around easily on the block, then complains that he doesn't get touches. Whose going to to throw a post entry pass to someone getting manhandled down low?
This is one time numbers are deceiving. Kobe will pass Gasol the ball if he is able to establish position.
Kobe obviously didn't play a flawless game, but every single thing that goes wrong can't be his fault.

When I say 'every single thing' it's like no one wants to hear that Pau Gasol makes mistakes. Last series when Kobe passed Gasol the ball and he dropped it, no one wanted Gasol to take any blame for that even though that would have been a very easy two points. However, Kobe fucks up, and that's all anyone wants to talk about. That's why I said. Other people fuck up too, but it's no one really care about that shit.
Also, I've been critical of Kobe my damn self. People talk about him shooting the team out of the game, but if that three pointer had gone in, we wouldn't be talking this shit. ONE shot was the difference between this thread being six pages, and the thread being two. That why it's all bullshit.
I'm almost convinced most of you dudes watch the Lakers in hopes that they lose so you can come in and talk about how fucked up a player Kobe is and why the FAKERS are overrated. Im happy but pissed, Dirk is capable of bullying his way to the rack whenever he wants but he rarely does it. That move he put on odom to shoot his ugly jumper towards the end was great, but if he did that every night he would have teams in foul trouble real early. For the people saying kidd ain't shit need to remember that he comes up with clutch D whenever we need it.

Slow down homie, don't forget last year when Kidd was gonna "guard" Ginobili & Manu ate him alive. Last night was more of an indictment of Kobe & his desire to prove how great he is. Kidd played some hella good D late, but gahdamn he was fucking up early & often last night.
I want a game where Kobe has 20+ in the first half...he's going to eventually flame out. Usually after his 3rd-4th quarter break, he comes in cold chunking & lets the opponent back in. With the calls they were getting inside, dummy should've went in all day.
I know kidd can fuck up he's shown that but you take him off this team and barea is you PG. Kidd is also the guy in case you forgot that had the play of the year last year when he shoved ATL head coach and got a free tech call, dude is smart but he does do some dumb shit.
since you watched the game (you did, right?), can you provide specific examples from G1 that describe your scenario of pau gasol not doing "what's necessary to get the ball and score down low?"
