OFFICIAL! Jake Paul will face Anthony Joshua in a pro heavyweight fight on December 19

lol

Anthony Joshua: The former heavyweight champion has been out of the ring since his September 2024 title loss to Daniel Dubois, has been back in the gym for more than a month and he’s been mentioned by Paul as an opponent of interest previously. Whether Paul will follow through with it on short notice is uncertain, but it would lift the bout as a boxing event of the highest interest and it makes the most sense.

Francis Ngannou: The former UFC heavyweight champion who once knocked down then-heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has been floated as a potential Paul foe. He brings substantial power, quality name recognition and will provide further credibility for Paul, who last defeated former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr in June.

Ryan Garcia: Even though De La Hoya insists the bout can’t happen due to streaming allegiances, finding a way for his immensely popular fighter to gain immense wealth in an exhibition might go a long way toward healing their obviously strained relationship, creating a true social-media phenomenon of an event while keeping Garcia on schedule for a WBC welterweight title fight versus Mario Barrios in Las Vegas.

Terence Crawford: SI’s Chris Mannix reported the five-division champion and new undisputed super-middleweight champion was approached by the Paul camp. It would be a no-lose option for the unbeaten Crawford, enriching him in back-to-back fights after being denied so many while so many welterweight champions fought for his former promoter Top Rank’s rival Premier Boxing Champions. Crawford’s penchant to win no matter what – exhibition or real fight – would add an interesting wrinkle to the bout as Paul has invested so much into fighting claims his bouts were fixed.

Yuniel Dorticos: The Cuban lost to current unified cruiserweight champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez on Paul’s summer card co-main event and it would further Paul’s interest in declaring himself as a true cruiserweight title contender since Ramirez is sidelined by injury and fellow champion Badou Jack has a December title defense scheduled.

Andre Ward: The former two-division champion has spoken of a return to the ring and this would be an ideal appetizer to a bigger fight by taking on the former YouTuber whom many want ridded from the sport.

Nate Diaz: The ex-UFC contender has already fought Paul 12-1 (7 KOs) in a 2023 loss by unanimous decision, and he’s expressed interest in a second crack. The absence of competition in that first bout makes this unlikely, but Diaz’s rich following leaves him in consideration.

Claressa Shields: The multi-division and current women’s heavyweight champion has maintained a long-running beef with Paul and has expressed interest in fighting him. Although the optics of this would be horrific, Shields has been sincere in her push to land the fight, explaining how the two-time Olympic gold medalist often spars men in preparation for her bouts.

Conor McGregor: Out of the octagon since 2021, the charismatic Irishman would make this bout a captivating draw, although he too has ties (to the UFC) that would make this highly problematic to negotiate given the beef with UFC’s Dana White and Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions head Nakisa Bidarian. Yet, McGregor is a striker first, so in dream matchmaking, it would have some legitimacy and definite promotional appeal.

Floyd Mayweather Jnr: The pair have a past after Paul angered “Money” by swiping his ballcap at Mayweather’s fight week with brother Logan Paul. As Mayweather considers a rematch within Manny Pacquiao next year, this would provide him untold millions and a chance to ramp up his fitness with a chance to make Paul pay for his prior shenanigans.
