You obviously don't own a android device which renders everything you say as bullshit, I use a galaxy s2 and a iPhone 4 on a regular basis and there is no noticeable difference in the touchscreen

I don't know how others do it, but I do it via wireless sync on iTunes. I don't have to plug shit in. My iMac recognizes my phone the moment in walk in the house.
