Official iPhone Killer (or Wannabe) News

You are so right.

But I love what is happening to the cel phones in general. Apple's iPhone is forcing all to step up their game thus forcing Apple to step up their game. This year we are seeing the results of that. Just look at the

Apple iPhone 3G
Samsung Instinct
LG Dare
Nokia N95 (North American Edition)
as well as a new phones from Google, and Blackberry

It really is a good time to be in the hunt for a new phone.

And that is the crux of where people are.

The Iphone made us all see what people would like in a phone and the rest are following suit to create a product where people are. Touch is going to be around for a long time because its the single click method made popular by the mouse. IMHO

Good thread Madskillz

I am basing this solely on my pre-orders. So far, seems like the best contender to the iPhone is the Blackberry Bold. I stay getting at the very least 2 pre-orders a day for the Bold. So in my opinion, thats going to be the closest contender. I doubt it'll dethrone the iPhone though.

Next phone in my opinion to come close to contending with the iphone will be the HTC Touch Pro. I don't yet have it up on my live site for pre-order, but the shit is definately going to be a problem when it's released. You can view it on the test site I am currently working on as an upgrade to Elite's current look.

Yo, the Verizon CEO is hating big time. This ninja sound salty as hell about the iPhone.

Verizon CEO: iPhone success a 'conspiracy'

The head of the telecom giant seemed a bit irritated about Apple's march into the mobile phone industry when he answered a question posed by the Financial Times about Apple's chances of reaching the mass market with the iPhone 3G by saying, "There goes the conspiracy again. You're declaring them a winner before they've earned it on the field."

Seidenberg's main contention seems to be that the iPhone isn't a success because it has such a small share of the overall mobile phone market, which is sort of like arguing that GM is more successful than Ferrari because they sell more cars. While it's true that Apple has a long way to go before it dominates the U.S. mobile phone industry to the degree that Verizon does, it's only been a year.

Verizon reportedly turned down the chance to carry the original iPhone over distaste for the revenue-sharing agreements that Apple insisted on for its early launch partners. In a way, that was a sound business decision, as Apple has been forced to retreat from that stance and accept the carrier-subsidy model that is the de facto standard for this industry, reducing the price of the iPhone. However, it's not like the thing was a flop, and even though Verizon is doing pretty well without the iPhone, it is definitely playing around with touch-screen smartphones.

In any event, the 61-year-old Verizon CEO's plan seems to involve waiting for Apple's 53-year-old CEO to retire.

"Steve Jobs eventually will get old...I like our chances," Seidenberg told the FT.

He mad cause on the 11th a lot more iPhones will be sold. And it'll be the smart shoppers this time. The ones like me that waited for the 3G and more memory and of course a competitive price. I think Verizon whether they had accepted the iPhone or not. They did us all a favor. Apple has been learning the ropes and this time around they have an even better price point. But this asshole is acting like the iPhone isn't doing well. The iPhone is the secound most popular smartphone on the market.

Sheeiit Verizon don't even make phones. I guess he mad cause Apple is stylin' on his ass.

In my humble opinion, the iphone is unkillable because of the hundreds of apps being developed specifically for the iphone. That extends the utility of the iphone way beyond the hardware platform.

One that comes close is the Sony Xperia X1 or HTC Diamond. But then again, the iphone has exclusive software and brower based versions of popular sites and services that none of the other manufacturers have.

I love my HTC Touch. I know there are people that hate the Windows Mobile platform but the phone does so much. Comes with Word, Excel and PowerPoint. I can watch live TV over Sprint's network (I'm in NYC). Oh and the phone take great pictures:

Nice Photos. RTE 1 and 9? ain't that out east on Strong Island :D I grew up out there.

Yeah, I'm not too crazy about Windows mobile, especially with my experience with the Motorola Q. I do I have some love for HTC. They definateley are representing Windows Mobile the right way.

Nah its in NJ. Was at Walmart but I've been into using the camera on my phone.

i think he is trying to consolidate all the so called "iphone killer" posts into one thread instead of having 1 every week since every new phone out seems to be dubbed the iphone killer

we could just call this "The Official Afroyale Thread" but that wouldn't be fair to all the other people who hate apple and want to chime in with the new phones out.

Dr.Truth is more of a Fag than he professes to be............in other news, I tested that instinct because I have Sprint and I liked it alot, even called myself on that bitch and it was cool. my contract with sprint ran out like three or four years ago, but I have no complaints with them so I'm good. I'm not a weazle so I dont' mind the 129-449 price tag(wether it's contracted or not)

Cool. When you get it gives a review of it. I have a few friends on Sprint, so I'll pass the word on to them to give instinct a once over.

I enjoy my Instinct very much. the only problem I have with it is that it doesn't zoom in and out when taking pictures or camcorder mode.. that sucks major but not enough to take it back. I really get my money worth with the TV stations they provide, my email access, texting, gps and everything as it has to offer.
I had the Instinct the day it was out i took it back. the webbroswer sucks. iam now back with my treo that iam happy with. i like the iphone webbroswer it better.

iPhone iWannabes
Knockoffs share touchscreen approach, but don't have Apple's software
By Suzanne Choney

Introduction

In less than a year since it was released, the iPhone has put the cell phone industry -- and designers -- in a spin. Some would call it a spinoff, with some phones being iPhone knockoffs, and more coming in the weeks and months ahead. The most obvious look-alike iPhone feature these phones share is the touchscreen. Some of the phones also include slide-out keyboards for those who prefer that option. The iPhone, though, is the only one that has Apple's software, one of the device's biggest benefits because of its ease of use. But because the iPhone is only sold in the U.S. by AT&T, if you're not an AT&T fan, you might prefer some of these similar kinds of phones offered by other carriers.

Go to the link to see some worthy iPhone wannabes. An impressive list. Competition is GOOD.

Touch looks like a decent offering. The sceen seems too small for me, but I'm sure many here would like the Touch.

The HTC Touch Diamond put up a good fight, but only managed to overcome the mighty iPhone in one round. We're not counting it out completely though. The U.S. version of the Diamond is expected by year's end, with more features and hopefully better performance. You can pretty much bet that these two foes will meet again in the ring. For now, the iPhone reigns supreme.
